Hey Everyone!
I'm new to this site as I've recently just moved to the area (Montgomery) from over in Georgia. First of all, let me preface this by saying that I'm not looking for anyone's spots or anything, just general information. You are more than welcome to just PM me anything instead of posting here. I'm used to putting some miles under the boots. 1) What public land opportunities are there available in the areas around Montgomery, Auburn, and Troy? As far as I can find it's just Yates Lake, Tuskeegee Natl. Forest, and Barbour. How are those locations generally? 2) I'm mostly a bow hunter. But since I am new to the area, I am looking for people to get together with. So if anyone hunts those areas, I'd love to tag along and have some contacts out there. 3) If anyone knows any clubs in the area, I'm definitely interested. I have a post in the clubs portion of the forum, but thought I'd throw one out here as well.
Happy Hunting!

Welcome! Biggest thing is our Rut is all over the place not as predictable as the GA rut. Good luck and I hope you kill a nice pig boar buck.

Lowndes to the west of Montgomery. And Autauga above Prattville.
As a Montgomery native, and I still work there, my best advice is get out while you can.

Mostly a bowhunter around Montgomery helps you. Between Montgomery and Selma is Lowndes WMA. Also you will find the HQ for the Corps of Engineers office. Go in there and get a permit and maps. There is plenty of underutilized bowhunting only land along the Alabama River. Free with a permit. I used to referee football with a couple of the guys that worked for them and they said that once gun season starts the land is seldom hunted, even during the January rut.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
