My LCG finally went out after 20 years. Does anyone have a recommendation based on actual use, which one to go with? Hummingbird? Lowerance? Looking for some education on them from actual users, instead of sponsored reviews that can be easily googled.

Price range $600-$1200

In that price range, if you'll keep an eye out (as in check every day or so), you'll be able to find a Helix 10 Mega Chirp SI G2N soon. When I got back into fishing a year and a half ago I bought a Helix 9 Mega Chirp SI G2N,

I bought the 9, instead of the 10, thinking that 1" of screen space wouldn't make any difference and the SIZE of the screen didn't, but I didn't research enough and what did make a huge difference is the resolution difference between those 2 sizes. I just bought a 10 Mega SI G2N for $1199. The 9 and 10 are both amazing, but the difference between those 2 units is amazing in itself. The 9 is like watching an 40 year old TV with a litle "snow" on the screen and the 10 is like looking at a brand new TV with Blu Ray disc playing.

When I originally bought my 9, I paid $1200 for it and the 10's were right at $1700. H'bird has just come out with G3N's, a new generation unit with Mega+, so lots of places are discounting the G2's.

I got my 10 at West Marine. Like I said it was $1199. I looked again the other day and they were back up to $1600+ Just gotta keep an eye out.

If I had Ben2's money, I'd be getting a Garmin Livescope. Those are incredible but they costed more than 575 duzen new arras

I have a Helix 10 Mega DI SI Chirp GN2 at the helm and wish I had another one for the bow. They are amazing! Got a Helix 7 DI SI up at the bow and it's tolerable.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Humminbird! I deal around 20 to 25 bass boats a year. I usually have 4 or 5 a year that the depth finders stop working on while I have them for sale. Always Lowrance. In three years, I've only had 1 humminbird stop.

On sale here. Livescope combo

I saw a video posted where they were fishing for crappie over flooded timber. You could see when the crappie was hooked and being reeled in.

Could you guys please recommend a unit with real good down imaging.

I don't need maps or side image.

No $1000 rigs either.

Thanks

What’s your price range?

You can buy a big non Mega Humminbird Helix DI for under a grand. You can buy a smaller H’bird Helix DI for way under a grand. Way under $500.

If you are just wanting DI and no other features, Garmin would be hard to beat

If you’ll watch the classifieds on bassboatcentral you could probably find a Helix 9 DI for around $500

If you like Lowrance, I can hook you up on a used HDS7 Touch with Structure Scan.
