If in doubt always check it. A few Bullets are cheap insurance. One shot and you should know.

just bore sight it and go hunt lol I worked behind a gun counter for five years and this was my biggest pet peeve. I can't tell you how many guys I've seen get their rifle bore sighted and then just take off to the woods. One of my cousins bought a laser bore sighter one year and I personally watched him readjust his scope to the laser point about a half dozen times during one weekend, between hunts, without ever firing the rifle. He'd bump it on his truck seat, stick the bore sighter in it, crank away on his turrets, and head to the stand. a guy in our club shot at a buck a few years ago and missed he came back to the camp shot rifle to check zero and it was about 8 inches to the left and 3 inches low on paper a 100 he acted surprised and said "that guy at Walter Craig told me he bore sighted this thing"

I've seen them shoot dead on the money with just a boresight and I've seen them off by a good bit like that. I always told people that it would get them within a 12" circle.

Yeah you'll need to check it. As for bore sight tools. The Alley Sight Align get them closer than anything I;ve every used in the past. It ain't cheap though. Fortunately I got one in a bunch of tool I bought from an old 'smith that was getting out of the business. I've done quite a few for folks that say they were within 4" @ 100 yards. My neighbor actually went hunting - against my urging to shoot it first - and killed a doe at about 80 yards. Alley Sight Align

You need to shoot the gun at 100 yards if you readjust the scope or not.

I can look down the barrel and scope at 10yds and get it within 3” at 100, then I’ll fire the rounds to zero it in. I’ve developed this method through the years and it works really good.

I do this too. I put the gun in sand bags or something that will hold it. I look through the bore and perfectly center it on a spot, then move the scope till it's above the spot about the distance it's mounted above the bore. Gets them really close. Did one many years ago and didn't have to move it any when shooting it!

I am needing to move my scope forward just a bit (on the rail) 1/2"-1". What changes should I expect with POI, if any, and how considerable would it be at say 100 yards?
I don't think it will change it much , but you still need a trip to the range.
