I have a ton of raccoons on my land and lease. I want to trap, but honestly getting out there once a week is tough. I would think you need to check them at least a couple of times, but y'all know better than me. Could I take 3 days and trap a bunch, then not trap for a couple weeks, then do another flurry? What is the best options for trying some trapping for coons and yotes. Also an absolute beginner. Need to buy traps once I find out if it is even something I'll have time for.
Thanks

Legally you have to check them every 24 hours. You could make some impact on the raccoons by setting on Friday and running for 2 nights. If you pre-baited the area it might help a little and if you could get a 3 night run occasionally you would do better. Even if you only catch 1-2 dozen you help your turkeys a lot. Dogproof traps are the way to go for this.

In my opinion, trying to trap coyotes without being fully able to commit to it for 1-2 weeks is not likely to be productive. If you're really on a hot location you might catch a couple by setting for 2 nights occasionally.

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Yep put out corn and get them coming in to it. Then make a circle around that corn with 4 or 5 DP traps baited with dry cat food. You will have 4 or 5 coons when you come back. I space mine out about 10-15 yards apart.

Thanks I'll give it a try and stay away from trying yotes yet. Another question. Is there anything productive I can do with a corn after catching it? I don't have the time or skill for fur, but I'll be happy to give to someone.

Skin them out, gut them, wash them off and freeze just like you would any other meat.

I have customers that buy from me every year. Mostly black folks. I have one guy with a standing order for 40 a year.

I know you can't legally sell deer meat cause it is a game animal. Are coons different cause they are a fur/ pest?

Bought 2 DP traps today. Gonna set em out around our feeder next time I have a 24 hour window to set and check. Plan to use cat food on bottom and large marshmallow on top. Saw were grant woods puts a soup can over top so rain won't get in it or birds ect. Buy I won't be leaving mine out that long.
