Ideas on hunting a swampy area that's pretty open with alot of huge oaks I guess in it,not real sure what kind of trees but they look like oaks, anyways the grounds always swampy year around.Just around Winter time it can be walked in in certain areas.Ideas on best ways to hunt it,and how many people actually hunt in swampy areas ,or bogs?

We definitely have the ugliest, thickest woods known to man around these parts. Most places around here outside the Delta, you will be hard pressed to find an oak tree. Most swampy areas are made of bay trees, swamp Tupelo's, and red maple. Deer could care less about any of em. If I were you I would walk around the swamp, and find a good trail the deer are using to go around it. They don't like being in the open.

[quote=jallencrockett]Adding to this conversation. Any thoughts on how to hunt blackbelt gumbo floodplain mock orange / cedar shelfs. If you look at pic you can see great at 3 feet. But dang the limbs with ANY ELEVATION. Im wet butting it down low. If somebody can pull up pic i'd appreciate.
Lockons set up on top of trails or ground blinds are you best bet. If you have time in the off season, get in there and cut you some shooting lanes where a couple of trails intersect. I hunt the same type terrain and those mock orange trees can be a challenge.

Find knolls in the middle of the swamp. That’s where big boy will bed cuz he can see you from a mile away
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

In my experience they'll follow creeks picking up acorns, but a creek crossing is where I hunt. Especially one with steep banks. I have a couple of spots where I just use the top section of a ladder stand to hunt for visibility. It's a good option.

I'd put up some lockons and trim shooting lanes. I don't see anything that requires special tactics.
