I stopped by Cabelas on the way home and picked up every spinning rod brand they had and didn't look at prices until I found the perfect rod that felt the best. They are the non xt version though. I have one on my inshore rod and one on each of my 6 crappie rods. They are some of the best bang for the buck spinning reels I've used.

Casting distance is better and they balance the poles better to me. Which specific model St Croix did you look at? I'm kicking around getting a JDM rod and want to see what domestic rods might compare. I like st croix tho..fine rods. Im still runnin 15 year old cardinals that have seen wayy better days but still do what they are supposed to. "I dont quit.. And ill fight alone if i have to"
