I have always admired frontier type guns from a safe distance. I've been taking a few steps closer over the last year, and I'm thinking about jumping in. I kinda dig the longrifle look, and would rather have flint, if nothing else, for the extra nostalgia. Don't want to do a high dollar custom right off the bat, but have been looking at the pedersoli, traditions, lyman, and CVAs pre-fabbed offerings. Patch and roundball would be what I'd want to shoot, so slow-twist barrels would be OK.
I am not opposed to buying used, if the rifle has been kept well. Any suggestions or anything I might have missed?
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I am thinking about going with the Lyman GPR instead of dropping the funds on a custom build

I've had a LGPs in 54 for 30 years, and have killed a lot of deer with it and roundball.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
