Glad to see them doing this.
People have said the need to communicate more with the public. They've had more meetings this year and now are doing this via social media. Looks like they're getting pretty good response, too, although some of the questions clearly show there's some ignorant folks out there.

Brandon Butler 100 yrds and out of sight is 100 yrds and out of sight. Sounds like they are nit picking
MTeauge asked them define the above.
Derrick Rattler Teague Are you gonna ask about my CWD question? Why are y’all blowing this up if no deer has ever died from CWD?
Eddie Maxwell Check the commissioner's Regulation Book on his website. The is NO harvest record in it.
Dwight Adams Question why is it that a Hunter can not hunt over bait . But game wardens can hunt over bait in the name of research ? I do know for fact they do cause for the past 3 years they have hunted the next door club land where they got big feeders at their green fields. In March.
Cory Crane Can you harvest a bonus buck on any management area?
Danny Taylor Can you talk about the states cwd plan since the plan is proven in other states not to work by killing mass amounts of healthy deer?
Todd Nix How many hunters are there in 2018 versus 1970 in Alabama ?
Randy White What is the distance you can hunt from a corn feeder?
Replying to Randy Lamar Carter 100 yrds and out of site
William Beadlescomb I'd like to know where the money goes from timber harvest on our national forest land
Jennifer Cromer Huie Is corn going to legalized ?
Heath Watson If you know anything about CWD you would never want baiting to be legalized
Pj Turbeville Can we make a plot on managent land
Cj O'Dell Why hasn’t corn been legalized?
John Sims Are Mountain Lions considered active in Alabama, if one were shot what would happen??
Eddie Maxwell You legalized salt, so who not legalize corn? They're both forbidden by law.
Chas Hawthorne We have seen a tremendous improvement in the counties that have went to a QDM(Such as Barbour County) why not go across the state of Alabama with QDM so we can start growing bigger deer like the Midwest states
Replying to Pj Jeremy Doss No, PJ, you can not plant anything on management land.
Clay N Paige Winn Have you thought about putting a bounty on coyotes?
Replying to Derrick Lamar Carter 100 yrds and out of site read the book
Lonnie Miller Why are the bird watchers, hikers, boaters and other recreational users not required to pay to utilize the natural resources?
Lee Martin Nonresident hunters are more interested in trophy hunting if something isnt done in ala soon on allowing young bucks to make it to 3+ years there gonna resort to other states like Mississippi.
Steven Edwards How much will it cost if I get caught hunting without a license
George Hardeman Are you stopping people on the road checking coolers
Chas Hawthorne We have seen a huge improvement in the quality of deer being killed in QDM Counties such as Barbour County is it possible the state will go QDM statewide so we can improve the quality of bucks such as the Midwest states, why has this not happened?
Cody Everett If you kill a deer way back on wildlife management area can you get your atv to get it later that night?
It takes a long time to grow an old friend.

I don’t know why they would do it here or on Facebook honestly. There are so many who try to derail and degrade everything they do here and elsewhere that I would tell them to read the book and deal with it. The same ones run around wondering why no one wants to help them.

The stuff swampy is posting above is exactly why they don’t want to do it, Hunter’s are their own worst enemy. You have folks trying to answer questions probably on their own time and you have idiots trying to derail it all.

I just tried to explain this to Nighthunter on the CWD thread. Y'all are use to Aldeer and I've been saying for years Aldeer is not the average Al. hunter. THIS is the average Alabama hunter. I'm convinced the average Alabamian is a total moron, and many if them also hunt.

I think I’m am now scared to be in the woods. The amount of dumb people hunting is shocking. 90% of the questions asked are answered in the yearly guide the state puts out every year. Good luck this year and stay safe.

Eddie Maxwell Since pure white salt is considered by the agency to be legal to use as an aid in hunting as well as Trophy Rock brand salt, is pure white corn considered legal as well or any particular brand of corn like Trophy Corn etc? Both are forbidden by law.

FB is where the new gen goes today. And with FB live, it makes perfect sense to use that media outlet. That's not exactly true. Instagram and SnapChat are the new kids. FB is mostly the over 50 crowd, or so the analytics say.

FB is where the new gen goes today. And with FB live, it makes perfect sense to use that media outlet. Today's younger generation doesn't use Facebook. They think it's stupid and is for old people. That bears out in surveys by social media outlets, with most FB users being age 40 and older along with significant declines in usage by young people. "Kids" today - those being teens to post-college graduates - are more into Instagram (which is being ruined by Facebook, its owner), Snapchat and Twitter (not as much, tho). I don’t know why they would do it here or on Facebook honestly. There are so many who try to derail and degrade everything they do here and elsewhere that I would tell them to read the book and deal with it. The same ones run around wondering why no one wants to help them. What Brandon said.

Lot of dumb questions and mostly to derail. They could get people who look like they want to be there.

Here you reach Alabama hunters 365 days a year. On Facebook, the average Alabama hunter has just started thinking about deer and will end on Feb 10 and not think about it again until Nov.

I know skinny has tried multiple times. Banging his head against the wall it appears. Also, if I were Jeremy and Matt danged if I would reply with the nonsense they put up with. Kind of like the respect factor you and I talked about earlier.

No one said they couldn't do anything on here, YouTube or elsewhere. It's not like they picked one out of a hat and said no to the rest of them. FB is a start. \ YouTube is HUGE with that crowd as well. True, true. I forgot about YouTube. IF you have a good video production staff and IF you have a host who can speak clearly without sounding like a weirdo and IF you can keep the videos to a short timeframe then you may be able to achieve some impact with them. If you try to have some kind of DeMille or Spielberg mentality and want fancy intros and music and some kind of Academy Award-winning production in videos lasting 7 or 8 minutes then you're going to get nada.

The problem lies, as YEKUT said, when Matt or Jeremy come here to try and explain things they are ridiculed, talked down to and told they do not know what they are taking about because they are young and stupid. Why expose yourself to that? Hell, even I've been questioned bout my identity --by some.

Well, you're a hotel chain so WTH do you know about deer? It closed down, I think. That was funny I actually got the nickname from a college buddy about Howard Johnson, the baseball player. I think that was the only Howard he knew and we were making intramural football jerseys and needed a name for the back. The name HOJO stuck. "the" came because HOJO is almost always taken on boards. I'm not very complicated.

Several of them have been banned from here lol

I’ll just assume there will be no fall turkey season and we can’t shoot hens I'd a 1000 times rather have a fall turkey season then spring. It would be so cool to have wild turkey for thanksgiving. That would be awesome! I’m North Alabama we have these machines called freezers. Throw that spring bird in there and it’s as hard a brick bat when you take it out in November to cook it. Damndest thing I’ve ever seen.

They also don't use email as much, unless needed for work, and prefer to text. Maybe "new gen" is a bad term (not meant to describe young folks), maybe FB is "more used" vs tv, radio. At least they had 24K views. I guess you can have real-time Q&A on instagram and snapchat?

Hunted boocoo species. Elk in wilderness area, ducks, deer , gator, hell I will throw sharks in. The only hunting that bored me was spring turkey. Kilt plenty. I would much rather fall hunt a turkey on the family farm a couple days before thanksgiving and have our family enjoy it. We all enjoy different ways and types of hunting. If you dont go over season bag limit why should anyone care if it was killed in fall or spring? lol if they gave every county a fall season you bet the limit will drop .

Thats why folks dont want fall season. They dont want to give up their 5 bird limit. I would like to take just one bird at Thanksgiving or perhaps Christmas. Thats the difficulty the DCNR has in making, keeping or changing regulations. Doing what is best for species management but also satisfying or giving opportunity to different user groups. They have a tough job# See, I think that's the sum of the whole problem. Satisfying any group, of people, shouldn't really be a consideration when your job is to manage the resources.

Well, if those faces don't instill confidence in your government, nothing will. That guy on the far left is about to pass out I believe that is Chris Cook, one of the biologists.

Guy in the middle looks confused, or maybe he needs to go take a POOP He’s probably trying to figure out how many deer have died from CWD, should we have a fall turkey season and shoot hens, why are mineral and salt licks leagal but not white corn, or what to do if someone shoots a mountain lion

I don’t know why they would do it here or on Facebook honestly. There are so many who try to derail and degrade everything they do here and elsewhere that I would tell them to read the book and deal with it. The same ones run around wondering why no one wants to help them. I couldn't have said it any better!

I say you pay taxes on your private land you do as you want. Regardless. But public land you go by state or fed law. I hate being told what to do on my own land But the wildlife (resource) isn't yours. That's why there has to be some governance over private land. This is another subject because of my beliefs (landowners rights) that i remain neutral on. It has been explained to me several times but not in a way that I can come to grips with. So: How can a captive deer that is for private use only, limited in their travels to prevent public use (high fence), be considered a public resource?

My comment was in reference to wildlife, not domestic pets, or genetic mutations. Im in agreement with you on that subject. Once the high fence goes up, there is no longer wildlife and the fence owner should be 100% accountable for whatever happens, good or bad.

I understand that and that should be the way it is. Then comes the question about DCNR spending time and money on them?

I would take a step further, and require the fence owner to count every wild animal to be entrapped and pay the neighboring property owners (because they are the ones who are most directly affected) for the loss of those resources.

I forgot about this... I will say folks had the opportunity to ask questions to one of the brightest deer minds in our part of the country. Ol Cook is as sharp as they come. He is. He's the only person to acknowledge there were deer in areas in Jackson Co. with native genes. I was talking with him a few years ago , he asked where I hunted , after telling him he said did you know your deer likely have native genes. Heard old timers say there were a few in the area , but never a biologist.
"Why do you ask"?
