We've got a beaver at the camp that needs to go. This will be a first for me but I'm up for the challenge. I snapped a few pics with the hopes that I can get some advice on how to trap him. The beaver is raising the level of a pond and every time it rains the pond floods and is causing the road to wash. Two coil MB-550's and MB-650's is what I've got to work with. I'm thinking I need to get a drowning rod too or something like that. I have never used a drowning rod or trapped anything in water. I busted this part of the dam this summer and he repaired it. You can see where he's exiting the water here. There are several trees he's working on. Thanks in advance

Where are you located ?
I'd use the 650 over the 550. Prefer non offset

You gonna be around Tuesday afternoon ? I will be in Chatom on Tuesday. I can bring you a drowning cable setup, you'll need the weight or a plastic feed bag.

You can catch him with a 650 but it needs to be a front foot catch as their back feet are pretty big. I sent you a pm.

Hard to imagine how valuable those rascals were back in the day. Helped settle North America. I fight those bastages constantly with little success. Looks like you have the right spot On the exit trail. Good luck Why are you fighting them? If you've got a few minutes time and a couple traps you can clean them out. It's literally that easy.

Don't set around the lodge/den. Set leg holds at castor mounds or slides.
You can use their natural slides or make your own with a fake castor mound at the top and a little dab of gland lure. In cooler weather it's the most effective set, in warmer weather it's the only set other than hidden snares.
