Spent three days on lovely Lake Wilson this past weekend. We had our end of year tournament there. I took Friday to prefish as I've never seen this lake before.
Thankfully, there was a bunch of shoreline grass to fish. Unfortunately, every shad in the known world was running the banks. I've never seen that many shad anywhere before. It was truly amazing how many there where. Wilson must be the most fertile lake in the TN River system.
Of course, the cold front moves through the day before dropping temps to below freezing for the first time this year. High blue bird skies also didn't help. The TVA did their part and ran the crap out of the water all weekend though it didn't help the guys fishing the tailrace unless you count drum and stripe.
I made a pattern out of the shoreline stuff and managed to catch em on a spinnerbait. The rest of the club struggled. All in all, we had fun, but the conditions were tough.

All LM. The guys fishing the tailrace caught stripe and drum. In three days, I think only one guy caught a non-keeper smallmouth. I stayed in less than 5ft of water the entire time. Only way I catch a smallmouth is if they get lost.
