Every Browning owner I know with Duratouch had problems out of it. My buddy bought a brand new Cynergy and it started peeling about the time he pulled the trigger the first time. I was a little more lucky and got several years out of mine. I let it get in pretty bad shape and finally called them and the hoops you had to jump through and the absurd turnaround time deterred me from using them. I finally just took it to a professional and had it hydro dipped and clear coated with cerakote. Had it back in 4 weeks.

I took an X-Bolt to Woods & Water on Monday to ship for me and they said turnaround was down to about 6-8 weeks now. I think Browning's turnaround is in a much better state than it was 2 years ago. I received my X-Bolt back within 3 weeks.. I was shocked! When woods and Water called I thought they were calling to inform me Browning received it and to expect it to return within a few weeks.

Do any new brownings still have the crappy stocks or have they fixed the problem? I considered getting a 6.5 xbolt this summer.

I still see brownings marked dura-touch finish, maybe the corrected the issue? Wish i would've sent my wife's abolt medallion back (purchased 15 years ago) the finish on it ain't worth a dang, sure it's purty, but it'll dent if ya touch it with your finger lol.

Good to hear O. I may actually send my ABolt in now. Now would be the time to do it since the season is over. I didn't want to send my SX3 in because I pretty much use it year round, but had to bite the bullet,

What do I need to do to get mine sent in? I have a Maxus and an Xbolt both that the duratouch needs to be redone. Do I call, email them or what? Give them a call and tell them what is going on. They will take your info and email you a return label to send it in. One they’ve received it, they mail you a card letting you know. The post card has a repair number and a password where you can check the status . Number is 1-800-322-4626. 8-4 CST.

Well, got the gun back. They replaced the stocks with non duratouch. They claimed the redipped the gun, but if they did, they need to get out of the business. All the worn places in the finish around the loading port and ejection port are still there. It appears the barrel and gun are old mossy oak, and the stocks are the new variety. I didn't expect a new gun, but I did expect them to do what they said they were gonna do. I guess I should just be happy I have my gun back and the stocks no longer are tarpaper. Gonna give them a call and express my displeasure today. That chit is terrible!!!

On those Duratouch SX3's, is the whole gun coated in Duratouch or just the stock and fore end? If the receiver and barrel aren't coated then I can maybe see why they cheaped out and only redipped the stock set. Did they damage the gun while working on it or was the wear n' tear already present? I can definitely see your side also, especially if somebody at the factory specifically said they were gonna strip and re-dip the entire shotgun. I wouldn't want them touching it again regardless and would lean towards having it dipped in bottomland like you really wanted OR just dipping the barrel and action to match your new stock set.

The duratouch was on the stock set only. But I was told by them that they no longer manufacture the old MOBU and would redip the gun to match. I asked if I could pay and just have it dipped in bottomland and was told no. Even in the repair order it lists “strip and recamouflage” as being completed. Someone signed off on it. Maybe it was a gross error, but I don’t suspect so. We will see. I got ya! Yeah if they told you they'd redip to match I'd be pissed off too...good luck with it bud, I hope they get it straightened out for you.

Odo, I've been following this. Have an older duratouch SX3 that is completely duratouched. It is still in decent shape, but is getting slightly stickier over the years. It's not my primary scatter gun at this point so think I will just wait and see. Not encouraged by this report.

Well, they sent me a Service Repair Form along with the return label to list what my concerns were. I pretty much laid the story out for them, with emphasis on how I was lied to straight to my face about what was going on with my gun. If the color discrepancies are what they consider "normal" then tell me and send me my gun and the stocks. In my line of work, if I lie to a client, I lose most importantly their respect, and I've likely lost their business for life. I bought this gun when I was in college and didn't have a whole lot of money to spend on anything, much less a nice shotgun. I just want it right. If they're willing to make it right, great. If not, I'll pay to get it right and this saga will likely influence future purchases.
I don't want to sound like I want something for nothing. If this gun was in a pattern they still made, I would have no problem with the stock replacement. I can't expect them to redip a gun just because it has normal wear and tear. But I was told to send it in because the camo had been updated and they would have to finish the gun to match.

I hate you are still having problems. Have been waiting to send my rifle in and will probably just keep waiting.
I'll be honest, for a rifle that isn't completely camo, I'd just say the hell with it and buy an aftermarket stock of your liking.

Well, in the process of cleaning guns, decided to send off the SX3 for this repair. This one is in MODB. I'm sure it'll be a cluster, but it's almost unusable. If I have it back by November, we'll call it a win.

I've got mine packed up but just haven't decided to send it. I reckon I won't need a shotgun before september anyway and I usually dove hunt with my 311D 16ga so I guess I'll send it.

Mine is on its way back. They had it about 2 weeks, a surprising short turn around. I'll be interested to see what they did.

Got sx3 back today. They dipped the stock and forearm in MO duck blind, which I thought had been discontinued, but I guess not? It looks like a brand new gun, except no duratouch. I couldn't be happier with the results.

I shipped UPS ground, 5/9 as I recall. They received it on 5/14, or at least sent me email giving me the log in, etc. on 5/14.
By 5/17 when I logged into their website, it said the job was complete and waiting inspection. They shipped on 5/22 and I got it on Friday 5/24.
My duratouch never looked bad, it was just unbearably sticky. The new camo dip is great.
