Yep. My k5 is in great shape compared to most k5’s, it has a deep scratches and all that good stuff that I don’t want my nice truck to have. I take it places that my King Ranch will never see.

Now that I hunt my wife’s family land in Skyline I catch myself driving my nice truck to the Farm. It has nice gravel roads in and out of the property, so it’s not an issue.

I definitely drive the K5 if I want to put myself into extra kill mode. Crank up some AC/DC and listen to that old truck rumble and rattle

My daily driver is a TJ. I was looking at buying a SxS to spare my Jeep some of the Wilcox Co abuse, but after seeing the price for a SxS ($10k+ for a wore out one) and realizing I would need to buy a bigger trailer too, I opted to go a different route. Tried to find a beater Jeep, but they were all north of $5k. Ended up getting a '87 Dodge Raider. Seating for 4, fully enclosed cab, A/C, heat, and street legal. I am about to rattle can it camo & slap a winch on her, and at the end of the day I'll have under $2,500 in it.

my camp truck is used for doing donuts when it's wet, running over critters and trees and stuff without caring and having something that I can throw a bloody ass deer in the back of without worrying if it gets blood all over it. I don't use it much during turkey season because I have an electric golf cart

Exact same story with my 74 K10, besides the part about AC/DC because the radio doesn't work. I don't think I could hear it over the tires and pipes anyways.

Yes, The old one is a full size Z71 so not what I would consider a perfect woods truck but no way I would put my daily driver through what I put the old one through. It goes places it shouldn't go to say the least.

Thats me. Most all my hunting gear stays in totes or bags in a small suv thru hunting season. When I go all I have to do is grab my gun get in and and go.

I drive my truck to the camp and then use my 4 wheeler from there. I really don't see the need for a hunting truck, if you have an atv or utv.

There are all sort of really good and justifiable reasons to have one. But this thread reminded me of one of the stupidest things... I was in a club for two years near Alex City years ago, one of the members lived near me in Anniston (about an hour and a half drive). He had a nice Z71, but always came to the club in this stupid little Suzuki Samurai. We didn't drive vehicles on our roads anyway (you could, but none of us ever did, we used 4wheelers). Now, he kept a 4wheeler parked behind his camper under a shed, which he always rode everywhere around the club. My point is he didn't use that Samurai as a deer retriever or anything, he could've driven that Z71. That stupid Suzuki ALWAYS gave him mechanical problems, wouldn't crank, radiator leaked, routinely stranded him and we'd have to go get him. I'll never know why he had this mental block that he had to have that "hunting vehicle", when all he used it for was to commute to the club.

Recently bout a 15 Ford F-150 crew. Debated on keeping my 03z71 for a “hunting truck”... but then when it just sat in the driveway I sold it. I just pull my polaris ranger to the woods when I feel like getting places in a hurry. If not, I just putt around in the new pickup.

Like you said that is kinda pointless. My truck that reno has now fetched deer. I didn't have a 4wheeler and didn't need one when I had that truck drive it as close as I could slap the deer on the flat bed strap it on and drive out. A bunch of guys I know started a hunting club in Franklin county and 5 of them was pretty good friend s mine one let me go with him if I paid the guest fee and we drove that toyota 1.5 hrs up there and one of out other friends that was a member had a little 70cc 4wheeler he used hunting up there (he's a small guy 5ft). He shot a deer and couldn't haul it out with that little rinky dink 4wheeler so he asked if I could make it in there and help him get it out we squeezed that truck down a 4wheeler trail with in 20yds of the deer loaded it up and drove out of reno will look the muffler on that truck probably still has the blood baked on it from the day

I drive a 2015 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x w/ 4wd and crew cab. It's the only vehicle I own. If it can't get me through a mudhole, then I probably didn't need to get past that mudhole anyway. Keep a charged up Makita sawzall in the toolbox during hunting season, but it's narrow and nimble enough that I rarely ever have an issue. Most guys on the club's trucks are bigger than mine, so if limbs are touching me, they didn't trim their designated roads as well as they should have. Truck handles hills, mud and snow like a champ. Bed isn't large especially with my toolbox but it will hold a deer or two.

I don't go out of my way to scratch up my truck, and for the most part it's in really good shape. But I don't buy 4wd trucks for them to sit there and look pretty. I also hate wrenching on s**t and hate paying mechanics even more. Rather just have one reliable vehicle to go everywhere. If anything, I may buy a beater CAR like a Honda Accord again to use commuting, just because if my truck has one feature I hate, it's 18mpg fuel economy.

Heat and air? What a bunch of wussie's! Just kidding. I just don't wanna have to pay the insurance on another vehicle, even liability. Now if you can leave it at the camp and just drive it on the club, you wouldn't need insurance on it.
