Tonight they reported that over 50% of Americans prefer Obamacare. Who is that stupid? Obamacare is the single worse thing that ever happened to Our Medical System here in the US. I don't understand. Are they only polling people that are getting their healthcare free ?

The only people I know that "like" it are the ones who are unemployed or self-employed. Everyone else I know says their premiums increased exponentially.

They probably interviewed all Democrats. It is s sample so who really knows who they interviewed.

I am self employed and my premiums have gone up from a family plan at $400/month to a single plan "bronze" (might as well not have insurance plan) that is $700/month thank you Obamacare and BCBS!!! Self employed are getting screwed. There is NO "like" by any self employed that I know.

All these polls news stations talk about. I've never been asked about any of it. Have yall To be fair, a lot of the times the poll is on their website. Not always. Not exactly a fool-proof method either, with possible foreign interference or using a VPN to vote multiple times.

The pre-existing condition stuff was a good addition. I'm still not convinced of this. It's like crashing a car without insurance and then going to get insurance and forcing the other policyholders to pay for it. That will obviously increase the payouts and increase downstream costs to all policyholders. There has to be something, though, to help cover those without.

Well yeah, that could be the case, but what if you had a life long illness like Type 1 diabetes, lose your insurance, then try to get new insurance and can’t get anything?
Let’s not kid ourselves though. Insurance companies could universally drop everyone’s rate $100/mo and still be making money hand over fist.

Qbamacare and patient liability caused many a young person to rule out the medical profession. If you remember Obama said they were greedy and didn't need to make so much. That from a dirtbag that earns several $100k just to talk an hour.

I got news for you, the self employed ain't got Healthcare, because they can't afford it! And even the unemployed can't afford it unless they're welfare check is big enough to cover the premiums. I know one person, with absolutely no income whatsoever, who tried to get health coverage through the exchange and was told her premiums would be $200 a month. With ZERO income! That pretty much says the whole damn thing was a scam from the beginning.

I don't know anyone that's self employed that likes it.

If I was a young man starting out I would seriously consider something in the healthcare industry. Because insurance is cheaper? Or because you’ll always have a job? I can tell you as a healthcare professional my insurance doubled also. Actually, it increased to the point where we dropped it and switched over to my wife’s company insurance

I'm not convinced of that either. Look at BCBS of Alabama for example. I'm friends with the CEO of BCBS of AL, Tim Vines. He's a client of ours. When coverage was forced to change and everything eventually was put into place, that year (forget the exact year) BCBS of AL paid $26 million more in claims that they received in premium payments. Losses continued until equilibrium was reached...that's why we saw frequent rate increases. The bulk of the new claims were pre-existing conditions and other mandated items on employer provided group plans. Then all the individual plans cam on board and the same thing happened. Old way of underwriting was gone. There is a good reason why premiums have increased so much: Received claims have gone through the roof and more things are covered than ever before. That outflow of $$ has to be paid by someone---us the end users. Now I'm not saying BCBS of AL is perfect and righteous...we all know they are not. But you'd be hard pressed to find a more efficient operation in the nation. BCBS of AL is organized as a not-for-profit company with administrative costs around 8-10%. Yes they do make profits, but there are no investors or shareholders to pay. There is no one owner that rakes in billions of profits. That means for every dollar paid in premiums roughly $.90-.92 cents is paid out in claims. That 8-10% includes all the funding of the mandated reserves (invested profits), all the large executive bonuses we hear about (executive rewards and retention), and operational/capital expenses. It is common for BCBS of AL to be the best or among the best in the nation in lowest admin costs. How many large companies can operate on 10%? For the health care providers reading this...yes BCBS of AL is a fierce on provider rates and reimbursement...they leverage to keep costs down. I know it is difficult to deal with. For this reason, TONS of large corporations use BCBS of AL to administer their self-insured insurance plans. BCBS processes the claims, pays the claims and does all the customer service, benefits booklets, enrollments, etc. If claims are $1 million in October, then the corporation pays BCBS the $1 million plus the negotiated administrative fee (6-10% depending on variables). The corporation sets the policy coverage within the law, BCBS merely is the admin. Self-Insured examples: State of Alabama, Alabama Power, ACIPCO, ALAGASCO (now Spire), Regions Bank, US Steel, Drummond Corp, Buffalo Rock, Red Diamond, Goodyear, Honda, Hyundai, CSX, etc... at least they were in that arrangement back in the day.
