Yes,

They would have hired him too but he told Jacobs he was going to stay at Alabama until after the season because it wasn’t right to not finish what he started. Jacobs didn’t like it and went another direction.

The search committee was Sullivan, Bo, and McWhorter.
Can't take it any farther. Obviously their pick didn't get the
job.

Thank you baby jesus for Aubie hiring gus for 30yrs....Sad thing is Gus is the best coach they will ever have and fits well in their quest to continue their longstanding mediocrity... Woe-Eagle...

Yes, as was Cheezit before him.

Ernie I was listening to sports talk radio today and an Auburn insider said that the 16 million up front wasn’t a problem. And like you said the rest would be spread out over 4 years. But all of this is negotiable depending on how bad Malzahn would want to leave if Auburn has fallen out of love with him. Could be less.

He also said that half of the board and other influential wealthy boosters was totally against the new contract but the president and athletic director was played by Jimmy Sexton and fell for the he’s going to Arkansas or else hype.

Why would Gus negotiate his buyout that is due to him from Auburn?

It's not like he would settle for 20 million and say to hell with the rest. Once he get's his 16 million up-front, I bet he'd be fine receiving the other 16mil over 4 years. Him and Jimmy done took Auburn back behind the shed one good time, Auburn oughta not go back for round 2 of negotiations.
