I hunt in Jackson county. I’ve also got a trip to KY at the end of this month... first three days I’ll be bow hunting, then gun hunting the three days after that. Looking forward to it fella’s. Hopefully we’ll do well and put some racked bucks on the ground, the good Lord willing.
Y’all be safe when y’all get out there. Let’s get after ‘em!

It happens sj. I had 3 racked bucks come by me the other evening. One was a hoss. They were south of me at 80 yards and we had a NNE wind. It was like watching a ticking time bomb that never went of. I just knew I was about to get busted. They never smelled me though. Still don't know how. The wind was headed right to em. If I would have had my climber with me I would have climbed in that area they walked by because that was where all the sign is this year for some reason. I have hunted that spot all my life and know it like the back of my hand but something has changed this year. I have had a loc on in the same tree for years there but it looks like the next time I go in to hunt it, I will be moving it. I just got lucky that they didn't smell me and they didn't smell where I had walked in either. They looked like they was out for an evening stroll and never put their head down. Oughta be a good weekend to kill one. Good luck y'all.

This time last year I had a doe and a 9pt in the freezer. I'm slackin this year. My goal this year is pope and young or better on some public land. I've spent the majority of my time looking for him, but have yet to find him. I know where a few were during the rut, but I've been trying to pin point their early season home territory like I did with the 9pt last year. They are hard for me to find this year. Then I've had just plain bad luck on my land. That is about to change though.

I’m hunting a small piece of land around my house so no high expectations, in 20 years I’ve never seen a mountable deer, we do have some good ones on the club I’m in but haven’t hunted it yet because of a busy schedule but that’ll change soon enough.

Bad news fellas - I struck out in KY this year. Looks like my timing was off on the rut by a week. I came back home today, and expect the rut to start firing this week. Sucks for sure, but nothing I can do about it. Oh well.

Congrats Fireman! Great buck!
I went back up to Fort Knox Friday morning, and got in the woods around lunch. I had an 8 pt. come thru that was legal, but not a wall hanger so I let him walk. Then I bow hunted all day on Saturday, saw six bucks (one shooter at 80 yards), and one doe. No luck getting one close enough to shoot. Knox was tough this year... maybe I’ll get it done next year.

Yea, it really puts guys OOS in a bind. Where we’ve been going in MO, we’ve have built some relationships with the locals from bringing them deer year after year, so they help us out. It cost me $30 to get it caped, then $35 for the taxidermist we have gotten to know to flesh it out and remove the skull plate. He knows we are in a tight, so when we bring one in he asks when we are leaving and he takes care of it. Basically we swing by in the way home and get it out of his freezer.

Reptar, you do any good in Texas? Nope, tough hunting while we were out there. Bucks were likely on lockdown and does weren't coming to feeders to avoid being harassed. I saw 1 good buck running a doe in the distance that I went after for most the trip and never saw him again. I think I saw a total of 7/8 deer on 7 hunts, very uncharacteristic for this property.

Yes, we were in Dumont, Texas. The owner is originally from Alabama and most of his groups are from Alabama. I think the 2 groups in the weeks ahead of ours are made up of Alabama Power employees. This was my first year to go, I enjoyed it and I know they have had great success in the past. Lol, that’s the same place! Mr Jim Jacobs! I work for APCO too, that’s funny because I thought that picture you posted looked familiar

I work for APCO too, that’s funny because I thought that picture you posted looked familiar Yup, that is where we were. He is a Crazy Dude!

He sure is! Hate you didn’t get one, I’ve only turkey hunted there but the group from power company have killed some good deer over the years out there

Reptar’s comments are pretty much spot-on for me. I’ve been a bit, but my club won’t get into rut mode for another couple of weeks. I “hope” to get a buck this season, but am hunting a new-to-me club so I’m dealing with a learning curve.

Well it looks like y'all are in the lead. At this point, unless something drastic happens, I don't think team 1 stands a chance. Anything could happen though. It is a tight race right now. I just updated the scores.

Reposting pics for McFack. Here you go. You just needed the link to each pic placed within the “[/IMG]” margins. Congrats on a great buck!

Congrats SJ!!! That is one beautiful buck! I’m sure you’ve got that one at the taxidermist already (if you don’t somethings wrong with you! )! I’ll tell y’all what fella’s, unless I saw it wrong I think we’ve all killed at least an 8 pt..... has everyone killed a doe? Like Reptar said earlier, we “ought” to have this thing locked up. Inevitably though, so rif-raff on another team will hold out and then post a couple of 12 pts! Still, we sure look like a team full of winners if you ask me! Congrats to ALL of us for the seasons we’ve had. God has indeed been good to us all. I doubt seriously that I’ll improve on a 9 pt., but who knows right?!?

Thanks buddy and I agree this is as good a chance at winning as we’ll probably ever have , we’ve got pics of a 10 on our club that would probably be my only chance at anything better but I like our chances

Mighty quiet in here fella’s... I’ve been hunting my butt off, but haven’t crossed paths with a shooter. Got the 9 pt. back from the taxidermist. Turned out very well. How are things going for all of y’all?

Same here.. property is on fire right now. I hope to have some luck the weekend.
I still don't see WEMO's deer on the board. We may need to take his pic he posted and throw it up there. I got it saved if he doesn’t post it soon I will

No problem, I’ve been looking for something with more points but doubt it happens, I’ve been killing em for 29 years and only killed one buck with more than 9 points! We had pictures of a 10 on the club but he’s disappeared or someone has killed him.

Fellas, I enjoyed being on the team with you killers! I’m not on here that much, and didn’t get to hunt as much as I would of liked too, but you guys definitely took up the slack! Congrats to everyone, and good luck next year !

Well how about that?!!? I reckon a bunch of blind squirrels can find a nut every now and then! Congrats on a great season fellas! Seeing as how we’re gonna be “Team #1 First Blood” next year let’s see if we can’t repeat it for the 2019-2020 season!
