Can I purchase a decent crossbow for around $350?

Hey guys. Had a busy week with work and family life. Got to hunt this morning for the first time this season. Scouted this new spot a few days ago and found deer sing and white oak acorns so I thought I would give it a try this morning. However, the deer decided not to show. May be next Saturday before I can go again.

I saw in another post that you Slayinbucks 24/7 hunt in Russell County. Where do you hunt? I live in Phenix City and hunt near Salem, Al. Have hunted in Seale and over near Hurtsboro.

We're right on the Barbour/Russell line. About 20 minutes north of lakepoint. Been on the same property for close to 30 years

Sounds about right. You hunt north of there now? It's amazing much the rut timing can differ from us even driving 20/30min away in any direction. Really a unique area of the state in that respect.

I hunt in Marengo County (Demopolis, Linden, and Sweet Water) Marengo was about the best in the state before soy bean fields turned into pine plantations. Pines don't have very much protein.

Will track deer in Marengo, Greene, Sumter, Wilcox, Perry, Hale counties.

The guy I hunt with is down camping for two days while I work. He went yesterday and spooked one walking in and got blowed at a couple times during his morning hunt. Afternoon hunt was a blank too. He is hunting this morning and heading back to Trussville tonight where he lives. I live 20 minutes from the lease and he has to drive 2 hours and 15 minutes to hunt. He is now retired and can hunt all he wants. Usually comes down for 3 days weekly.

Same as Dallas County. At first we thought it was gonna be great to have more cover for deer. Then we noticed most of our mature bucks were growing less than 130" of antler. Nowadays, if you kill a pope and young buck you are lucky.

Went this morning and hunted to about 11:00 AM to no avail. Had one come up behind me and blew about 10 times. Really fidgety. Thought I was hunting the wind correctly but maybe thermals got me. Had to see me move.

Have to take care of those does that like to blow at you. Usually quit after you send one through the pump station. Good luck getting after em!!! I'll be headed up to camp on Tues but just for a couple days. Going to squeeze a few hunts in and try to get another freezer queen or finally some horns with the bow. Just hope it ain't raining the entire 2 days.

Made it back to Tampa this evening. Only got to hunt 1 time, which was yesterday morning. Had 2 shooter bucks walk by me in some tall sage grass where you could only see their horns. They went to 70 yards and stood there fighting for 15 min. Was an awesome show for sure. If they do that next weekend with a rifle in my hands,I'll definitely get us some points

Maybe you will get a crack at them. I am in a stand with my 10 y/o right now. He has gotten an 8 point the last two youth seasons so we are hopeful for this weekend.

Going for my first sit of the season tomorrow morning! Hopefully they move, I’m going on my neighbors property where it’s gotta be a good one if I shoot! But fingers crossed I just see some!

Have only been 2 times and shot a blank each time. Wanted to go tomorrow but it looks like a wash out. Got some time off coming up around Turkey Day and hope to be in the woods quite a bit more.

I'm in the process of setting up a Barnett Whitetail Hunter II crossbow. I couldn't find my Grim Reaper heads for a crossbow so I picked up some Rage Hypodermics. Hopefully they will get the job done like my Grim Reapers have been known to do.
