These guys been discussed on here before? Insane what they've been able to pull off hunting the suburbs of Atlanta, and now targeting Nashville.

Go look them up on YouTube if you haven't already, really entertaining and interesting style of hunting.

I haven’t watched any of their new videos but I’ve seen their older stuff. They have killed some nice deer but after seeing and reading about them I think some of their morals is questionable.

I’ve seen them in videos not wearing a safety harness, running through a front yard with a bow to shoot a deer well after shooting hours, there is also a thread on archery talk about one of them, and if I remember correctly one of them was charged with some type of illegal hunting.

They definitely receive attention weather it’s good or bad.

Yeah we talked about em last year some. I like the idea of finding small chunks of land to hunt that no one else thinks of, so I started watching them, but seeing them in a stand literally in someone's drive way seemed kind of silly.

I've got a friend who's a fireman in Atlanta, pretty often he talks about the deer there.

The one part of this that I can't figure out, is they must have a way around whatever city ordinances exist regarding what constitutes a firearm and discharging one within the city limits. There is TVA land near where I live that I know for certain is considered recreational (huntable), but it falls within city limits. I have spoken to law enforcement in that city and have been told that even shooting a bow is considered a firearm by their definition in the ordinance. Thus, no hunting within city limits essentially. Goes for almost every city/town I've run into here. Maybe these suburbs are not within city limits and are considered county?

If I were to be looking to shoot a gun in the city limits it would be a 300blk 9" barreled "pistol" with a small 1-4 scope, subsonics and a suppressor. I would also put a folding stock so I could slip it into a backpack.
That's about as quiet as it gets without major major tinkering.

Bow is not considered a firearm. Heck, a muzzleloader isn’t even a firearm by the NFA definition. Cities have to explicitly ban bows and bow hunting if they don’t want it. Tuscaloosa City did this 10-12 years ago.

Yeah I don't think that's true about the bow thing.

Hm, well alright then. Sounds like I talked to someone in law enforcement who was uninformed of the issue or verbiage of their laws then. I don't recall any language explicitly says bow and arrow was considered a firearm, only pellet guns.

I may be completely wrong, I have no background in anything to do with laws. I just know its been brought up here before. I reckon a call the the local GW would help figure it out though!

I can second the "bow and arrow classified as firearm" thing. Had a cop in Prattville tell me I couldn't target practice with my bow because of city ordinance against discharging "firearms".

If bham Fred read this, I'm sure he would tell them to go pound sand. A bow is not a firearm.

GWs don’t enforce city ordinances, just FYI.
I’d read those ordinances close. Make sure there isn’t an acreage large enough to hunt in. Some cities allow you to hunt if it’s a certain size. May have to be zoned a certain way also.

John, When did you start worrying about an ordinance??

I watched some back when it was in ATL. One thing no one ever thinks about is tracking the deer. They got mad on an episode when a guy walked under their stand, and I wound have been too. However, they are getting permission to hunt small lots. You can make a good shot with a bow and they run 150 yards. A marginal shot and they can go a long way. Do y’all think they are getting permission from every single lot owner when they are tracking? Probably not. In those situations, a deer could cross 5 lots after you shoot it - but that’s never addressed, cause it’s just ok then.

most cops dont know their ass from a hole in the ground thats why they are cops and not attorneys. id have asked him to quote me the definition of a firearm and where i can find that a bow meets that definition.

From watching some of the videos a lot of things they do may be questionable

I do like the videos, because it’s interesting. But I’m not going to spend my free time off the 8th hole of a golf course in a climber. I like something a little more wild-feeling.
