After spending an hour looking for my harness I gave up and used an old one from a Summit Climber. It's great to be 30 feet up in a tree. Gonna try to shoot a few does early season cause we are just covered up.
Great to be deer hunting the new farm, especially since I missed the rut last year after a head-on collision Kids and I are lucky to be alive. I M so grateful to our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ. Even if I don't kill or see a deer the grass is greener and the woods are a thing to be marveled at. We are all so deeply blessed.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

Thanks for the kind words fellas. The good Lord loves me and I promise I am not worthy of it at all. I sin every day and just don't deserve all my blessings at all.
Three does came in and I never saw them till they were at 15 yards. The matriarch looked up right when I stood up. She was already at 10 yards at this point. I froze and she put her head back down and closed to 5 yards. Then she looks up again right as I am getting my bow off the holder. She BLOWED at me and they scattered. The matriarch stops at 21 yards and starts doing the high slow proud step.
Now different hunters will come up with different theories but I have dealt with enough matriarchs to form my own theory that if you get a smart one and she bust you in your tree you might as well put your stand somewhere else cause a lot of the time that she only needs that educational course once. I know a lot of you are fixin' to post to the contrary but this is what my experience has shown me quite a few times.
She walked past a tree at 26 and I drew back fast and stopped her when she came out the other side.I kept thinking that this is the last chance from this tree and I rushed the shot. I knew she was fixin' to join the other two, who were by now, in Nashville so I let one go. It was high and back and it looked like the it only penetrated about 10-12 inches.
I was really worried although she looked like she had a Gigantic gash in her. I gave her an hour and when I looked there was initially a lot of muscle blood. I backed out but as hot as it was I knew I couldn't give her too much time so I started tracking a few minutes later. At 100 yards I found the arrow and sure enough it was broke off at about 10-12 inches. The blood dried up and fortunately there was enough sign from her panicked run that I found her 50 yards downhill from the arrow.
Now get this, That Rage Trypan had worked its way completely through the length and out the other side near the opposite ham. I lack the vocabulary to describe the impossible way this broadhead traveled through her but it was so contrary to the flight line that it boggles my mind. I am telling you these broad heads ain't no joke. That deer should have not been recovered.
Having said all this I regret the shot. It was one of those early season idiot mistakes that you make. Early season shots when it's hot like this should be shots that are carefully considered, not rushed because you think you won't get another opportunity. There's plenty of deer in the woods.
Thanks to God for being so active in my life.

Another blessing is we got a little boy that is classmates with my two daughters out in the woods to fetch that deer with us. His daddy ain't around and his step daddy had a stroke last year and can't do much, so we have been showing him the woods and letting him run around with us outside, hanging stands and cutting shooting lanes etc... I will ask his mama if I can post the pic...
