Raekwon Davis offered an apology for his punching the Mizzou lineman in the back. I was disappointed he wasn't ejected by the officials and more disappointed in the coaches allowing him to return to the game. I know he might have been provoked but responding how he did isn't acceptable. I expect and hope he is suspended for next week after the tape is reviewed.

At least he apologised. He should have ejected.

That is the problem these days, WIN at any cost. Coaches should have put his butt in the locker room and he would run stairs till he pucked his guts up.

I like seeing fans being objective like this. It does seem like it is win at any cost at every university now. Most of the players now don't care about academics anymore.

Winning or even playing with class seems to be a thing of the past.......I don't understand the finger wagging by defensive players when a QB overthrows a receiver or the ball is dropped when the DB had nothing to do with the incompletion.....or when a guy makes a tackle and gets up and struts like he has done anything except what he is supposed to do.....I understand playing with emotion but its a team sport and celebrations should be at the end of the game after you win......and before someone makes comments about its typical Saban's team behavior - all teams are guilty........

I'm not sure the coaches knew what he did at the time of him going back into the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see him suspended for a half or the next game. He should have been ejected IMO.

I watched the play today and the Mizzou lineman was picking up Mack Wilson on a blitz and caught Wilson with a haymaker and mauled him to the ground. Davis started punching the Mizzou player on the way to the ground while being blocked by other another Mizzou lineman. Davis then delivered the three or four punches to the players kidney area before giving him a knee in the back as he got up. As I said earlier I can understand being provoked or feeling like you are taking up for a teammate but his actions should have consequences. It would send a strong message to the remainder of the team about doing it the right way and also not putting your team in a bad spot because of you losing your cool.

Should have just accidentally stepped on his hand.... the hand he was wailing on the Bama player with right before he retaliated.

There’s no call for what Davis did regardless of what someone else did to a teammate.

Maybe not throwing blows, but there is definitely a call for retaliation for certain acts.

Has there been anything said about the kid who wrenched Ruggs leg after he was tackled and on the ground. Betting SEC office suspends the kid this week????

Don't believe Saban knew at that time what Davis had done. I didn't see the other punches from the Mizzou player. If he is suspended by Sec office he will miss first two quarters of game.

the leg twist was enough that ruggs could probably have the kid arrested for assault. If ruggs wouldnt have spun in a circle. It would have torn every ligament or snapped his leg. Mizzo coach should be having that kid run stadiums!

That was total bulldoodoo. If I saw it at home, then the refs and plenty others (review crews, analysts) did too. That guy would have had to leave the game with a blown out knee, in my day anyway.

Davis was in the wrong no matter the why, and if you throw a punch in a game you are gone by rule. I suspect the refs will be reprimanded and that will be that.

They should be reprimanded. They missed a bunch and let a bunch go. And the review of the first down spot on Tua's slide was just plain wrong.

Looks like Davis is going to be punished and miss some playing time.

If you go back and watch the replay, #71 for Mizzou throw a haymaker right hook at one of our guys on that play. Enough so that the guys head snaps to the side. Raekwon immediately jumped on him. No, doesnt make it right, but he reacted in the moment, not like it was planned out in advance. You see someone sucker punch your buddy, you probably gonna wail on them, consequences be damned.
