when it seems like nothing else is working?

The Cahaba runs right behind my house. I can see straight down into it from some really tall banks. I can see plenty of bass down in there, and what i think are some really big catfish. Also think I saw a gar, but it was glaring bad so couldn't see to well.

I'd probably try a wacky rigged finesse worm / trick worm. Just weightless.

Texas rig zoom trick worm. Depending on water clarity either green pumpkin or June bug.

Just remember, if you can see them they see you too. Try a stealth approach.

Larry, you better remember that the next time you’re watching people in the men’s restroom!

Anything you want. We use to wear them out on worms and lizards torpedoes small jerk baits. If you really want to have some fun buy a cast net and catch some horny headed chubs and free weight them in deep pools. You will catch bass catfish crappie gar anything.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

If there’s bluecats I’d use some cut bluegill that will get gar aswell if it’s flatheads I’d try some live bluegill on a Santee Cooper rig.

I fish the Cahaba all the time. It runs right by my house too. The wife and I like to canoe from Grantsmill Rd down to Liberty Park. What to throw? I'd start with a small buzzbait. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best buzzbait body of water in the state. Period.

Last time I was there I did well on a swimjig on laydowns. The fish there are aggressive spots and redeye that don't see many baits. I go with my braided line and heavy gear and never have an issue.

Thanks guys, and thanks william, I'll have to try that out.

I gotta figure out how to get down to the water for a buzz bait, but shouldn't be too hard.
