I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. Drove down to see the kids. Got to town about 12:30 expecting to never find a parking spot. Found one pretty easily.
I've been to AU games for almost 40 years, from the Barfield days. This "spirit" is reminiscent of that period from fans. Just "Well, crap. Another lost season."
The on-field play is some of the most consistently inconsistent I've ever seen, primarily on offense. How the hell can you throw a great curl route and Schwartz run for a TD, and yet you can't run the damned ball or have a QB who flings it "trying to make something happen" and gets intercepted?
That's not coaching. That's poor decisions by the players. A coach can do whatever it can to prepare the OL or get Stidham to take the sack instead of giving up a turnover. But on the field it's on the players, and these players aren't getting it done.
But it does, yes, fall on the shoulders of the coaches, ultimately. And they're not getting it done either. It's just bad all around.
Gus's buyout requires half within a month of firing. If they want him gone, finding $16 million in 30 days after what probably will be a 5-7 season might not be as difficult as some would think. I don't think it'll happen but it's not out of the realm.
