Just got back from a week in Gulf Shores. Tuesday we did an 8 hour off shore charter. It was a bucket list item for me. The captain warned the 5 of us it would be rough seas that day. If we headed out and and voted later to come back, no refund. We decided to go for it and had a blast. 5 King mackerel, 2 Spanish mackerel, a bunch of vermillion snapper (Bee Liners) and my amberjack. Deck hand was amazing that he could keep us with bait and unhooking fish while the boat was rolling ever which way. All the other captains were talking about the number of "heads over board" with their charter. We only had one, and she recovered after about 10 minutes to keep fishing.



We visited the fishing pier Wednesday and spent over an hour watching all the sharks feeding. Thursday evening we loaded up our gear and spent the next 5 hours catching sharks off the pier. State Park doesn't allow you to bring sharks up onto the pier, but it wasn't our fault they kept taking our live bait. After 10 minutes or so, each one managed to break our line. I had 80 lb braid but it was no match when the shark swam by one of the pillars and broke off.
