I found an old york raider compound bow in my family storage. However the limbs or cracked and the bow is discontinued. I read somewhere I could use the riser and convert it to a recurve takedown. I was looking at the
#50 sage limbs. Is this a good way to recycle an old bow or just plain crazy. And if its possible to convert should I use my extra arrow rest or just learn to shoot traditional ? Just looking and random ideas.

Lots of folks have used compound risers to make recurve bows.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I hear that. But do they ever use the compound accessories or do they go traditional ?

Zay, they basically convert the limb pockets of the compound risers, fitting them with ILF bushings so you can use ILF recurve limbs on the riser.
There are certain compound risers that will work and some that wont from what I understand.
If you like I can give you the name of a fella that knows a lot about it. The term used for converting the compound risers is called "warfing". Not sure about the cost involved.

Some make limb pocket adapters and some people have them machined to fit a certain type limb...head on over to tradtalk and they will learn you all you need to know about a warf bow an might even sell you a good one....old black bear riser makes a fine warf bow...one of the more popular risers to warf. Most any riser can be warfed as long as there is enough meat on the limb pocket to machine or fit an adapter...also people takin el cheapo recuves with metal risers and trashin the factory limbs and basically re working them like a warf riser.
