Dealing with another round of sciatica leg pain due to a lower back disk rapture. Please if you don’t have back issues and have never dealt with sciatica pain. Do what ever is necessary To insure you never have too.

I'm afraid there isn't much some of us could have done to avoid back troubles. The only way I could have avoided back pain would have been to die young.

Kinda feels like a red hot poker being pushed down the back of your leg.

Go put the enjoyment of everyday life in the hands of a neurosurgeon and let him carve you up like a flathead catfish. And good luck with that...
I hope you find some relief

Two years ago, I was so bad I thought of wearing Depends because it was so painful to walk to the bathroom. Good luck and I pray for your quick recovery.

It can be horrible, thank God this rd isn’t as bad as 2 years ago. I opted not to have surgery last time But would consider it now if insurance would cover it. I am just warning those who don’t have a issue to try to avoid it at all cost ( if possible ). Brother in law just had surgery for a bulging disk. he sits at a desk every day , I have always work construction. So weather your in a office or lifting heavy items for a living just be conscious of your back.

I went through it for about all of May and June of this year. It will suck the life out of you and you start to wonder if it will ever end. After the first month I finally figured out that a steroid shot from the Dr would last about a week. But they won't give you one every week, so if you have never tried it get them to give you a shot of toradol between steroid shots. neurontin helps but it takes a week or two to kick in. Get shots as close to the ruptured disk as possible. Opiate pain killers won't help at all. I finally got the spinal shot and haven't had any pain since July 1st, but still have numb places in my leg where the pain was so I have a feeling it will be back again. At least this time I will have a better idea of what will help and not spend the first month in pain trying chiropractors and physical therapy. BTW do your own research about what has worked for others and ask your Dr if it involves referrals or a prescription.. Most dr's have a scripted plan when they hear sciatica. It usually involves Advil, PT etc.

if you go the shot route be careful. You will feel great and over do it and be worst off. I get 3 shots a year. The 1st time I did it the shot lasted about 6 months. Lower back pain sucks!!!

I went and had my L5-S1 fused with screws and rods stalled. I am 4 weeks post op and can tell already a big difference.
Honestly I was a bit concerned because of horror stories, and figured I would put my back into the surgeons hands a pray that the good lord would guide the surgeon.

I also did a lot of research on drs.

I've been burned in house fires, through my gear- it was DAMN Hot! Had gal bladder issues, Kidney stones. And back surgery. My back started when I was 17 and I lived with it for 25 years. Until that day I couldn't get out of bed. Worst pain I've ever been in. The fire was 2nd.

I hope you get your relief. I am 100% aware of what I do now, What I pick up, how I turn, walk. I use to think back pain was just people being weak-- Not anymore. Core strength is the answer.

Just about over it. Chiropractor--no good for me.
Accupuncture--didn't help.
PT with a guy that knows his stuff has just about
stopped the pain.
And get that billfold out of your back pocket, esp.
in a car riding.
Good luck. Never had that excrutiating pain everybody
talks about, but still bad enough.
It is indeed a pain in the azz.

I hate to hear so many of you already suffer with sciatica and back pain. I have research till I am blue in the face not that’s it’s a bad thing because I have learned a lot almost 2 years ago I had it so bad I can Honestly say suicide was an ever day thought. 4 months It was all I could do to get to therapy and back home. I couldn’t stand , walk , sit or sleep then I slowly started improving but have still lost feeling my left foot. I became so depressed I really lost much hope I’d ever get better. My wife and myself are self employed and it really put a strain on every area of our life. I can Honestly say if it wasn’t for my faith in Christ I don’t know If I’d be here today. I am fully convinced God touched me after much prayer because I have been doing great up till now and I am so thankful this time is no where near like last time. As others have said I had never experienced anything like it so I was in complete shock in more ways than one and had no idea where to turn for help. Honestly that is why I started this post hoping to save someone form going down this road if possible. Sometimes we don’t get a choice but I can Look back and see I brought most of this on myself over many years of being a “tough guy” . I had to find out the hard way real back isdies will make the toughest , baddest man around a big sissy in a hurry lol .
