Picked up one today thanks to a great friend. This is one rifle I’ve always wanted. It just seems head and shoulders above any of the AR15s I have. Anyway it has the walnut stock and stainless barrel. I can’t decide if I want to put the wood stock up in order to keep it pristine and put a composite on it. What do you guys think?

I know composites tougher, but wood&steel just go together.

Only hits count.

I say if she's a shooter leave her as she left the factory. But if she's ornery I wouldn't hesitate to replace the stock.

National Match M1A rifles are fully bedded from the factory, and their paperwork says do not remove action from the stock unless absolutely necessary, and it won't be easy. I'm not sure that they use a release agent when they bed the actions.

I figured that out last night after reading a bunch. It will stay in it’s orig configuration. 👍

I've always wanted an M1A. I've talked myself out of it many times.
