I have a small tract of property here by the house I have planted. We planted two plots with wheat, oats, and clover blends like we always do. I have another area I think I may plant, but I want to try something new. Good soil, a little shady in a few spots, and will probably grow about anything I plant. I just want to try something different to my usual plots to compare deer usage. Let me know what you think.

I say oats or triticale with winter peas and either sugar beets or radishes.

I say oats or triticale with winter peas and either sugar beets or radishes. Is it too late for the beets? Stop by and grab some triticale and crimson clover. Do they have this at the warehouse in Leighton? B

Winter peas, drag, feed oats, drag ,fertilize. When a good freeze knocks the oats back the peas will be exposed.

Let me ask y'all this... if you buy one of those 5lb bags of Rape, Radish, Turnips, etc. and that bag says it will plant 1/2 acre. How many bags to you really need. I know the seed is small but don't seem like that is near enough. I'm gonna have to get off the tractor and hand seed that mess for that to go a 1/4 acre.
Throw it out and run a cultipacker over it?
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I mix my small seed with sand. 50 lb sand to 5lb seed.

I'm mixing hundreds of tons of seed and fert together. Always have. Works just fine. Just don't let urea sit long in this humidity

I also mix mine with some cereal grain. You can mix it with some pelleted lime. I've heard people putting it in their fertilizer, but I've always been a little scared to do that. I have mixed it all together for many years and never noticed a problem. But I always put it out as soon as I mix it; don't mix it in advance and let it sit for days. I dump in a bag of t17, add a half a bag of rye, then a few pounds of clover, then mix it all together. Then dump another bag of fertilizer and repeat until I have enough to do that plot. Go put it out and then come back to the truck and prepare for the next plot. Run over all the plots with a cultipacker when finished for the day. I mix the clover in advance - one pound of arrowleaf to 3 pounds of crimson. The 2 clovers do well together, maturing at different times and extending the usefulness of the plot well into the summer. The arrowleaf makes good bugging areas for young turkeys.

I just pour the small seed in with grain seeds and plant together. Never had trouble with separation Same
