Got out my ecaller tonight and actually had some coyotes answering serenade howls.

It's almost time to bury some steel. If I get the time this year it'll be the first time in 3 years. I can't wait.

3 years since you've run traps for yotes?

I've caught 7 since Sunday. A lot of young females but one big male and an adult female. The big male came off a urine post yesterday and had a female pup in the remake this morning,

Yes sir! My work schedule just hasn't allowed me the off time to put more than a few traps out. I like running big lines. I've got over 200 traps (probably closer to 300) and would love the time off to actually get them all out and run them for a couple weeks.

Dang brother! I didn't realize it had been that long since I had seen a yote post. I hope you get some time!

Thanks. Ended up with 8 Sunday-Friday, only running a little over a dozen traps, just what I can handle a couple hours before work. Had to move areas Friday and today due to loggers moving in. Lost a trap at the set mentioned above due to being run over. New area has good sign so I'm hoping it picks back up.

That's a good catch K. Definitely nice catching that many females.

Wondering how it will affect things if the alpha male is left and no female? Will a female move into his territory of will he search out a new home with a receptive female ?

Now's the time to hit them hard with traps or calls. This years pups are starting to move around on their own or with another pup or two. Between now and breeding season they'll become more independent and some will disperse many miles. They are much easier to call or catch during this period.
