I had never eaten any boiled untill about 15 years ago. I was having an opening day dove hunt at the house and had invited a guy who did NWTF workr stuff with me that had never hunted. He was thrilled with the invite and asked what he needed to bring. Told him nothing but hunting stuff because I always funish lunch. Said he'ed bring and boil some peanuts. I was thinking this is gonna suck. I was totally wrong. We ate a 5 gallon bucked full. Come to think of it not sure I've had any since.

Come to think of it not sure I've had any since. they're fine & easy to make - esp in this type of instapot deal ... some work quicker than others; for this setup, i found the bean/chili setting on high pressure for 2 hrs worked great; i'd then dump them out (like the pic above) and let them cool down to room temp in the water from the pot ... they taste great same day, but honestly -- we put up 2 gallon bags full & Sunday, when they'd cooled down in the fridge overnight, we couldn't stop eating 'em!!! LOL

How much salt are you adding? My wife loves boiled peanuts and we have an instant pot. weeeeellll .... what we did was (and you can see the big, round Morton's container behind the pot) was fill up the pot with red-hot water and basically "heavy dust" the top of the peanuts ... then, we stirred the salt into the water/peanut mix & i dipped my finger into the water & tasted it to make sure it tasted fairly salty ... & let it ride! it's easy to over-salt boiled peanuts, so we erred more on the side of less salt vs. more salt ... i over-salted the very first batch (not these in the pics this wkend) & altho i liked 'em, they weren't as good as this less salted batch ... all that to say, you just gotta play with it ... run smaller batches & test your salt tolerance & roll with it from there ...

I boil mine in that very same crock pot. I use the "Steam" setting and start with one hour. Then depressurize and test for texture.

I don't have a crock pot like yours but they cook just as well in a regular crock pot Cooked a batch of jumbos the other day and it did not take long for them to be gone daddy gone! Salt really depends on individual tastes. That batch I made was in a large crock pot [4 quart] and I added about a third of a cup of sea salt. Cooked it on high for 4 hours and then let it cook on low over night. It switched keeping it warm over night and the next morning they were perfect. Sitting in the brine after cooking is where they soak up the salt. If you like um spicy, adding some Cajun seasoning is da bomb!

Where y’all buying the peanuts from? some grocery stores have them, some local produce places have them, farmer's markets, and a place close to me (South's Finest Meats) can order a ton of 'em ... my suggestion is to call around & check with several places in/around your town ...

If you live in or near the Brewton area, go south a bit into Florida and purchase them from Lawry's farm or Holland's farm. Grown right there. A lot cheaper than in the grocery store. Yep. In the last week or so they've been turning them. About every other field from Milton to Jay are peanuts.
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.
