We may fish from the dock a little. We have about 20 family members over for the weekend. I’ll probably be pulling kids around on a tube most of the day. Wave at me if you see me in a black centurion. I’ll be nice and give plenty of room and not rock you with the waves too bad 😂. My dad and brother and i may slip out for a few hours at daylight Sunday.

Toothdoc I did not make it down that far yesterday. Big rain cloud stopped me short at Broughton Springs. Went back up river before I got soaked. I caught several fish but they were all small. But, I had fun at one stop though. Found a bunch of 1/2 to 1 lb stripe schooling off a point. Man, they were putting on a show. I bet I caught 20 within about 15-20 min. The size of shad they were running was about 1.5" long. Never got any bass to bite down below them though.

Ya know, it amazes me the number of dumb arses that own a boat. I was fishing on the edge of the river toward Minnesota Bend and here comes a fish/ski boat doing the normal "S" driving pulling a tube. Big kids on the tube too. Well, this intelligent individual decides to cut across the shallow flat at the old ferry and turn right headed toward the slough. I thought to myself, just stop fishing and get a beer, this is gonna be interesting. He made the turn and "wham" I thought the rear of the boat was gonna pass the front in the air he hit the roadbed so hard. I just sat there and watched for the next 10 minutes them getting out of the boat ad finally getting the boat pushed off the road bed. They came back out to the river edge, cranked up, and went on their merry way back into shallow water headed down river. It amazes me the level of education some people driving a boat have about where they are running. slap

For sure. Lot of idiots out there. Gotta stay wide in all the points out there. Where Canoe Creek branches off into Palmeto creek, that point goes way out and it drops from about 17' to 1.5' Sounds like a blast on those stripe. I was planning on going tomorrow, but the forecast seems to be saying no. I talked to one guy that caught 4 all about 3-4lb. He said he caught everything in the grass. The shad are starting to move up in the creek a little though, so this cold front in the next few weeks and I'll head back in the creeks.

Got out there yesterday for a few hours. Did not catch any down river towards Greensport. Came back up river to familiar turf. Started catching some small lm & spots pushing shad. Same area where the stripe were last week. Did not see the first stripe only lm & spots were there. I thought that was odd. Biggest I caught was one about three pounds. Saw several boats still pounding the grass. Water temp was still 80-81 deg. I believe they are starting to move up and feed on the shad. Shad were EVERYWHERE. Ought to start getting good over the next few weeks.

a few years ago. One of my old buddies in school was killed because the boater had no idea where he was. When he was slung off the tube he wedged under a stump. Took them a few days to get him out. His kids will never know him due to stupidity

For me the last 3-4 weeks have been a blast. Best 5 was almost 16lbs. They've all been over 3. Just can't get lucky enough for a kicker to go with them.

Had a chance to go yesterday afternoon. Water tem ranged from 72-76 in places I fished. Caught a lot of little fish on top but could not get the good bite below them. I flipped a little grass, ran some points with lipless and crank no luck. Did not really go far from Tommy's Marina area. I did see where it took 15# to win the Sunday morning TX.

Anyone been lately and how did you do?

Fished a tournament out of Gadsden Saturday, crap it was tough in my opinion. I threw a buzzbait all dadgum day and only had two rolls, caught one. Didn't catch a single spot all day long. As ALWAYS, they sucked the bottom out of that place overnight on Friday. They tick me off doing that crap, I swear it's the most predictable thing. The fish we caught were on slooooowly worked Senkos, way out in front of the grass. Managed to finish 2nd place with only 9#.

I set the hook on a fish that felt really big, I didn't even turn it, just some head shakes and a huge boil then it broke my braid at the knot. It wouldn't have helped anyway, 1st had 15#.

I heard 15# and change won it up town. I was contemplating fishing the depot TX with my BIL but when I found out about the rain and wind, I said hell naw. They only dropped the water 6" Friday night and ran one all day Saturday. I wanted to go yesterday but it was my Dad's birthday so we went over there to eat with them. I am going to go next weekend for sure. They should be getting right..................

Yeah, we blasted off simultaneously with the Depot bunch. I think 16 was 1st, 15 took 2nd, and then it fell way off like ours did to about 9 pounds and below on average.

Guys who won ours ran pretty much to Weiss dam, fished a swim jig in the grass all day.
