This is a gun my uncle left to me; he bought it used when he was a kid. This is about as basic as a gun can get. Most people that handle one can't believe that it doesn't cock itself when you work the bolt. You have to cock it by hand after you load it. Yet lots of folks fed their families with guns like this, and it will still do that today.

I hadn't killed a canecutter in ages; I hope he isn't tough.

We've got a Remington model 41, basically the same gun . They quit making them in the 1930's so that tell you about how old it is. Its been in the family that long and has taken ALOT of game. It's still a sweet shooter too and prefer taking it hunting over my 10/22. Although these days my son son does most of the gun toting so I should say his 10/22. Enjoy supper.

I have a Savage tube feed bolt that was my Great Grandaddys and an old Rem. single
shot bolt that has to be cocked by hand. Just cool guns.

I have mine and love it. Killed many critters with it. One of my prizes never for sale or trade possessions as long as I can help it.

Yep, pull the bolt back and flip the safety up. Dad has a 67a with a 20 in barrel and also has my great grandads 67a "carbine" with a 16" barrel that my grandad inherited from his dad. No telling how many thousand 22 shorts I shot through that carbine when I was a kid. Look forward to inheriting them both from my dad someday. Sure are sweet little guns.

Wouldn't it be cool if a gun that age could talk, I bet it could fill up a message board of trips afield and bringing home the supper.
