Just bought a rock climbing harness to replace my traditional harness. Do any of you do this, if so what are your likes/dislikes?

I plan on using my tree strap and lineman’s belt with my lone wolf. How do you connect your lineman’s belt and tree strap to the harness? Also, does the tree strap get in your way when you are bow hunring? It should arrive next week so I’m anxious to use it.

No, it doesn’t get in the way. I have it just loose enough to where I can turn in either direction all the way around, but not enough that I’ll fall far if I do in fact fall.

switched a couple of years ago and will never go back. I use the Petzl Aspir with an HSS rope-style tree strap. The tree strap has a carabiner on prusic knot that you can slide up and down to adjust the link. Just clip that carabiner onto the loop on the front of the harness and let the strap lie across my lap. I can stand and turn without issue and it does not get in the way of drawing/shooting.
If it's particularly cold, I'll wear it UNDER my bibs - they have the zipper that can unzip from the top or bottom, so I'll unzip it from the bottom up a little to let the rope go in to the harness.

Ive been usin a black diamod for about 4 years now, my lanyard is 11mm dynema static rope i made. I use a black diamond aluminum climbing caribeaner. Shnazzy deal if i do say so myself. I still got 3 or 4 hss harnesses i dont use much anymore...but still are super good harnesses.

Some guys in a different forum were talking about adding a piece of tubular webbing on each side to attach the lineman’s belt to. If i can use the tree strap instead that would be easier.

DIY sportsmans videos on the you tube will help alot and he has one on how to do the webbing upgrade. I did the webbing deal but didnt care for it. What im gonna do is take the harness to an upholstery place and have them stich some static rope on the waist just to keep it from riding out of place but the only time i use belt is to transfer around limbs.

I went with the Alpine BOD from black diamond, it was $38 with shipping. I went through huntinggeardeals.com. They have 20% off for the next few days, they are regular $44.95. Moosejaw is the name of the company.

Man thanks for posting this! I am need of a new harness (mine has expired) and I have not thought nor heard about using a rock climbing harness instead. I like what I've read and seen on YouTube about it. I was in the same boat and like you I read and saw enough on fb and YouTube so I thought why not. If you are on fb. Checkout hunting in the south lots of guys on there use them too.

quite a bit of info on them on Archery Talk as well. That's actually where I first started reading about them and ultimately what convinced me to switch.
