Been squirrel hunting any chance I get since opening day cause I’m addicted to the woods. Anyways the main areas I e been hunting definitely got hogs. I will be honest I’m not used to hogs quite yet as I moved to the area few years ago. Do boars or angry mamas make any warning noise prior to charging thru the brush? I ask because I had some snorters about 30 to 40 yds away on other side of thick brush I only could catches glimpses of them and hear them rooting around. I was tempted to make a move butt was carrying mainly squirrel shotgun loads except for some rifled slugs in crap hits fan scenario like this one could of been. I’m itching to get at em since I know they are there and they didn’t catch my wind or bust me on that encounter. But like to know more about there asshole attitudes prior to tackling them in close quarters with possibly just #6 birdshot or slugs to the face. Anyone willing to share insight on killing them in close quarters without getting your butt kicked

X2. I'd take this before using squirrel shot. If the slugs are legal where you're hunting right now, I'd use them though. A solid hit with a slug will drop most anything that walks pretty quick.

I doubt they make any noise if they're fixing to charge. The boars will chomp their tusks together. But that aint exclusive to charging. If they did charge i wouldnt care what i had. I'm shooting. If your unfamilar with pigs. Look at some picture of where their vitals are, cause they're lower than most folks think. Pigs cant see that good, but they have a hell of a nose.

I like using a 17 wsm on hogs. If I shoot one in the ear with it I might see a back foot wiggle after it hits the ground but otherwise theyre stone cold dead
