I let my wife talk me into a mouser for the barn. Sorriest piece of flesh I've ever known. Cat will sit on top of the freezer and watch mice run around the barn floor. You want one, come and get it. Or give me an address and I'll mail it.

If you get a cat it won't be long until you will have it in yo house. Don't want to but will. Let nature take its course because it does not need fixing. Snakes are far better to eradicate them critters...cat can't get in them holes but a snake can do wonders when it comes to holes.

Get a Jack Russell or Rat terrier.

When I was a kid, we would pour out a small pile of cracked corn in the back yard and snipe the chipmunks from the upstairs bedroom window with a pellet rifle. Man that was fun.

I never liked cats...but yrs ago when we purchased a small farm that's when we picked up a couple cats, and had em ever since. We have five or six that run around the property but never in the house. Two live on the front porch and two on back porch, and the other two hang around somewhere (who knows). They serve their purpose for what we use them for mainly rats, mice around the house. I honestly don't know when the last time I saw a rat or mice in our house ( 16 yrs ). With that said we do have a turnover...some have disappeared. When we get down low, we pick up some more all fixed and free from whoever. I remember one morning I was drinking a cup of coffee watching the fog/haze raise up from the pasture after a rainy night. There in the middle of pasture were those six killers laid out about 3' from each other in a perfect straight line waiting. They are killers.

The only cat I'd tolerate would have been Kitty Kat West.

I've got a dachshund who if he weren't so fat and spoiled from laying on the couch all day would be an excellent mouser or chipmunk executioner. He's just too slow to catch one.

Had a chipmunk the other day in my tomato garden he spotted, chased him all over the yard, on the porch, still couldn't get him and was out of breath in about 2 minutes.

brother-in-law has a full size yorkie that is absolute death on rodents of all kinds; that's what they were designed to do. son has an outdoors cat that is death on anything small enough to kill. a kitten adopted us; rode home from school under my bride's car. 4 months old and death on insects. hoping it will be death on squirrels and chipmunks when she's bigger ...

I'm not fond of cats but I got 2 of them to take care of the critters around the house. Between them and my GSP not much of anything crosses the property lines without dying. Dadgum cats act just about like dogs too, when I bust out the treats for my dog the cats will come up and sit right beside her and wait for theirs.
