I drained my pond to restock it. Now as it is filling up and lily pads are growing everywhere. What do you recommend for killing them?

Have a friend that had a problem like that and got it solved. I'll ask him and let you know if you don'e find out before hand.

Arsenal Xpress is the best herbicide I've found for lily pads. Glyphosate and Imazapyr.

As long as you aint stocked it yet id use gly and a surfactant, ive used copper sulfate to kill underwater aquatic weeds but ive never sprayed it on lilly pads. If you got fish in it id be very VERY cautious about how much chemical id use if any at all. Id probly make me a re-bar drag and dragem out with a chain and 4wheeler,tractor, or truck. I do know gly will kill lilly pads but im not a 100% on the copper. I do know that the copper sulfate is safe for fish as long as you go by the lable...if you dont and you spray to much at once the bacteria from the dying weeds will suck up all the oxygen and turn the pond over...ask me how i know. Be careful if you got any fish in it..if it hasnt been stocked yet id make sure it was as clean as posdible before i put any in there. But i do know that dragging is about the safest method when workin around fish.

CarbonClimber1 thank you for the information. The pond has not been stocked yet and I am leaning towards spraying with gly due to lots of stumps in the pond. It's about 6 acres and only about 3/8 full so I will start spraying soon.

You can spray if it is stocked, but you should only do about 1/4 the pond at a time.

You'll need to use an aquatic gly formulation. I suggest looking at Rodeo.

I saw it the other day in the co-op for less than $70 for 2.5 gallons. From what I've seen, that's about what most of the gly products run.

You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

There are lots of chemicals to kill it with. I can tell you coller sulfate won’t touch it. That is an algacide. PM me for more info and I can help with restocking too.

Thanks snuffy. How is your pond doing? I think I was supposed to call you back recently about something
