I have always used a bag spreader to do fields from a quarter acre to 10 acres when seeding. Due to recent leg injury, I am thinking of getting a spreader for the 4 wheeler to put out seed and small quantities of fertilizer. I asked on here for Sprayer recommendations and have be very pleased with the one I picked, so wanted to see what everyone suggested. Thanks in advance.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a pull type spreader like this. https://www.everythingattachments.c...er-Spreader-p/kk-atv-seeder-spreader.htm

A pull spreader would never work for me. My plots are too rough, that thing would spend more time in the air than the ground. I have one of the typical atv/utv spin spreaders that has lasted for years doing both seed and fertilizer. If it dies I will replace it with one that can be controlled easily from the front seat of my Ranger. Earthway makes one I like but they are a little pricey, so I will keep jury rigging the old one until it dies.easier.

This one is pretty good, I use to feed turkeys, seed my little plot, ect.

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

We've been using this spreader for at least 8 years. If the motor ever craps out you can replace it with a $20 feeder motor from Academy. It's been solid and slung a lot of seed. We mount it on the front so you can seed the pattern.

That's the one I use too.

Have run seed, fert, and even corn through it. And like sad, the motor is replaceable.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Make sure you wash it good after running fertilizer through it. Nitrogen is very corrosive.

The only thing I didn't like about the Moultrie, was that it never completely emptied because the bottom is flat. You will have to rake it out by hand, or drive around until it rattles out. I bought a cabela's brand from a guy off the old QDMA website, it empties completely every time.

Used one like that on our property one time, twisted the tongue before noon. Luckily it was a rental and we straightened it and took it back. We do not have smooth flat property though.

Ive had a pull behind from Homequarters and a moultrie. The pull behind work flawlessly for years until it went flying out of truck. Moultrie requires maintenance. Pretty good but not near as versatile as simple pull behind with no motor.

I have a Moultrie similar to that, but it's round and holds about 90 lbs. I keep it mounted to the front of the ATV and the sprayer on the back. I've had it 12 years or so and it still works fine, but it's always had issues. You pull a lever to expose 2 round holes in the bottom to let the seed fall, but they were not cut equally. One side always puts out more than the other. I've whittled on it and improved it, but the sides will never match perfectly.

It's good for slinging out wheat, but it's hard to get it accurate enough for small seed like clover. I use it anyway; sure beats doing it by hand. It works by gravity only; there is no agitator so it can be frustrating putting out fertilizer. One clump can lock it up, so I have to screen fertilizer. This is not my main planting system, but it works ok for putting out a few bags of wheat or something.

All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

More expensive than the others, but there's a lot to be said for quality. https://kascomfg.com/herd-broadcast-seedersspreaders/herd-gt-77-atv-seederspreader

If I were closer to N Alabama I would definitely have already bought that spreader in the classified section.

I bought this one around 5 years ago and still using it. Still works great with the same motor and all. I had a friend make me a larger plate to attach to the shield plate to keep fertilizer and seed from being thrown back onto to the wheeler. It holds a 100#'s.

I bought an All Seasons 100 lb Hercules road feeder. Did a great job with see and with fertilizer.

Nope, just a poor cheap redneck :-)
But I got me one of those fancy spreaders now so we will see once I get to start planting green fields.
