Former Auburn Tiger Gabe Wright released by the Dolphins for throwing a cheap shot at former Alabama player Kenyon Drake in practice. Ol Gabe's has been released from 4 different teams in his first four seasons in the NFL. That clown will never learn.

Report: Dolphins Cut DT Gabe Wright After He Punched Kenyan Drake in Practice

AUGUST 13, 2018

PITTSBURGH, PA - AUGUST 12: Defensive lineman Gabe Wright #90 of the Detroit Lions looks on from the sideline before a National Football League preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field on August 12, 2016 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Lions defeated the Steelers 30-17. (Photo by George Gojkovich/Getty Images)

The Miami Dolphins are set to release defensive tackle Gabe Wright after an altercation in practice Monday, according to Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post.

Luis D. Sung of PhinManiacs.com provided a look at the fight during practice:

Wow man...fists were flying. Gabe Wright came and punched Kenyan Drake in the face. Gase is not going to like this.

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald also reported that Wright had "blindsided" running back Kenyan Drake.

The tackle also reportedly had a dustup with running back Senorise Perry, while Albert Breer of the MMQB added that Wright was "taking aim at multiple running backs" while throwing punches.

The 26-year-old was hoping to remain with the Dolphins for a second season after spending much of last year on the practice squad. He appeared in one game, totaling one tackle during the Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

While Wright had initially signed a two-year deal last September, his contract was not guaranteed for 2018, and he will lose the $630,000 he could've made this season, per Spotrac.

The Auburn product was initially a fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft but has had a tough time sticking with a team, spending time with the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles already in his career.

Wright will hope to find another chance elsewhere in the NFL after blowing his opportunity with the Dolphins.

Reportedly tweeted out "Worth it" after being released. I don't think it was an Iron Bowl thing unless Gabe is really childish. While I could see a couple of fans duking it out, the players view the rivalry differently. I think he was just a thug being a thug and Kenyon Drake happened to be the recipient. Remember, this guys has been signed to and released from four different teams in four seasons. He may have just punched his way out of millions of dollars of revenue by being a dumbass.

With all the fights that break out in training camps, if he got released over a punch, then they were looking for a reason to send him packing.

The punch to the face was the first I had read about that. The one I read said Gabe threw an elbow at his head from behind sucker punch style. The article said another fight broke out and several players ran up to stop it and Wright flew in MMA style on Drake with his elbow from behind.

Psssst....they didn't change their political views when they got to the NFL, folks.

Isn't he the one that pitched the Bama hat on the ground and said "Nick Who"? Seems like I remember that part of his commitment. I thought that was pretty clever and a way to endear himself to the fanbase of the team he committed to.

I couldn’t care less what their political views are but if you want to use your public stage to raise your fist to say phuck the police because you’re stupid enough to think they’re out here hunting down black folks or you kneel to disrespect our flag and country because you’re stupid enough to think America is a racist hell then piss on them.

Anyone who thinks it is "Iron Bowl-related" is a mouth-breather.............That rivalry means a WHOLE lot more to the fans than it does the players. Sure, they know it's a big game and really want to win it, but watch them afterward - half of 'em are hugging and high-fiving and smiling with one another on the field after the game is over.

Man, I'm about as 'Bama as anyone.............but a large majority of people that go to fan day are mouth-breathers (with the exception of people taking their kids). Same with autographs...any adult standing in line and/or camping out to get college kids/coaches' autographs needs to take a look in the mirror.

Don't kid yourself Burbank, the barn has its share of mouth breathers as you call it. A friend of mine that works at the stadium says any time there is a free event involving football, it attracts the "mouth breathers" just a section of society that probably can't afford a game. This is their only way of attending a football event. I'm sure every university it's the same.

Bottom line is Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a cushy ALDOT job and all the benefits that go along with it. smile
