This past Saturday’s BHA State championship was the end to the regular 3D season. For years I have been trying to win the Bowhunters of Alabama state championship. I have come so close with three second place finishes where I was beaten by two points and last year I lost by only one point. I’ve been shooting an Elite Victory 37 all season. Some days I shoot it well and others not so well. Two weeks ago I ran across a good deal on a New Breed Cyborg so I built a set of strings and cables for it and set it up just to play around with and shoot indoor spot tournaments. After all James Hornbuckle and Renee Hornbuckle have been beating me every time with theirs. Can’t beat them join them, right. So last Thursday night I took the New Breed up to Hoover Tactical and shot my best round ever on five spot hitting 29 of 30 x’s. So Friday ,I didn’t like the sight I had on it, so I changed it with plans to shoot it at EA Archery’s Friday night shoot. Turns out the sight I put on it I couldn’t see the pin under the fluorescent lights so I swapped bows and shot the Elite and not very well either. After my poor performance with the Elite I made the decision to strip everything off the Elite and put it on the New Breed. The whole time I’m thinking that this is the stupidest decision and best way to guarantee that I don’t win the championship. I sighted the New Breed in on the practice range best I could Saturday morning and everything felt pretty good. Ended up I was hitting high right on the longer 3d targets so for the first eight to ten targets I was making adjustments to be able to hit the twelves. I pulled it together on the second half and shot 11 twelves on 13 targets bringing home my first BHA state championship trophy. Also won the 74 yard long shot novelty shoot hitting closest to center with an arrow 7/8” from center. I shot with a great group of guys, Dylan Childers Jimmy Chavers, Chris Vines and Matthew Burns. It was a good day and to top it off I won a two day deer hunt with professional big buck slayer Walt Pittmam.









Also on July 28 I was able to win the Alabama ASA Federation Known 45 Shooter of the Year award.
