To cover all this rice. My first planted rice is all headed out and grains are hardening up. Gonna let the water out of it at the end of the week and should be ready for harvest in 2-3 weeks.

6-8" after it reaches green ring. It reaches this stage around 6 weeks after sprouting. 2-3" before that.

Looks like a loaded crop this year for sure. How many different variety's of rice do ya'll plant? Do ya'll have any big bird shoots or do ya'll lease the hunting?

This rice is called mermentau. It's a conventional long grain. We also plant CL111,CL151, CL152 and CL172. All long grain varieties.
Timber, the landowners have a big hunting operation. We can't hunt none of it.

Seed cost and yield history. Tolerance to certain fungal diseases comes into play also. Yield history is #1.
