I'm drawing a blank on this one guys. I don't think I'd live through using one of my wifes stew pots and I can't think of anything other than a cut off 55 gallon drum. What do you guys use?
Also, should I dye the dogproof traps too?

I used a cut off 55 gallon drum with a wood fire underneath. I've seen a lot of people just buy a cheap whole turkey fryer setup that uses a propane tank.

I will most likely do what you are. I've spent enough starting from scratch on this trapping project.

Fur I use a cut off 55 gallon drum for cleaning and dying and have a cheap whole turkey gas fryer I use for waxing! Just remember whatever you put the wax in its there to stay! And (FYI)it takes 15 lbs of wax in the fryer to dip 3 traps at the time! Something else I thought about for guys starting out! Your traps won't be dyed black right out of the dye. Don't sweat it! After you wax them they'll be black as coal!

Thanks. Okay, another question, do the traps have to rust before dying them? I've been watching youtube videos and one guy said that they had to rust before the dye would stick.

Kinda goes against everything we've told you on here doesn't it! We boil and dye and wax to prevent rust but yes the dye will stick better once they've rusted some! Once they've rusted a little, clean them up with a wire brush then start your boiling process!
