I never considered hunting grass until...
I was drawn for a spot on an Army base, the spot I got was about 1000 acreas of shrubs and grass on a rise bordered by woods and a creek. I setup in a tree with a crossbow because it was archery only. I killed a nice buck but watched in amazement how it all worked. The critters came out of the woods in the morning and bedded up in the high ground in the grass. Most were out of crossbow range and I used my binoculars to watch and learn.
I learned that the mature bucks used a seperate trail and the hogs used either trail. I learned just how long a mature buck can stand or lay in one spot. I also learned just how many scrapes they will run in those fields using scrubs.

Bucks have no problem bedding in prairie. Between the cedar thickets and open prairie land, the prairie provides more cover, browse and warmth.
But cedars aren't my issue nor concern. It's what to plant in these prairies that would grow on alkaline soils and would benefit my deer. Not just to hunt over, but year 'round. 1) Alfalfa
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
