I never considered hunting grass until...

I was drawn for a spot on an Army base, the spot I got was about 1000 acreas of shrubs and grass on a rise bordered by woods and a creek. I setup in a tree with a crossbow because it was archery only. I killed a nice buck but watched in amazement how it all worked. The critters came out of the woods in the morning and bedded up in the high ground in the grass. Most were out of crossbow range and I used my binoculars to watch and learn.

I learned that the mature bucks used a seperate trail and the hogs used either trail. I learned just how long a mature buck can stand or lay in one spot. I also learned just how many scrapes they will run in those fields using scrubs.

Let it grow up and deer will feel more comfortable traveling during daylight or they will use for bedding area. You can also cut access roads after you let grow up to funnel deer to your stand and or you can use to access the hardwoods undetected and keep less scent down in hardwoods.

I did note the bigger the boar hog, the more apt he was to use the trails and terrain features as an older mature buck. Its like they are different animals from the rest of the youngins.
