The boy went in the 1st round draft and no conversation? Damn that bandwagon crashed out early.

Other than Robert Horry, there haven't been too many UA success stories in the NBA so I can understand the skepticism. Plus, most folks in Alabama are fixated on football.

There have been plenty, just not in a while. I can think of 6-7 that were Allstate and played over 10 years. Mo William, Derrick McKey, Horey, Sprewell, Wallace, Caffey, McDyess.

I hope he has a good career, but if Lebron leaves that team is going to be garbage. I like Sexton but I feel like he got drafted by a team that's going nowhere...

I'm a Bammer and I know who Sexton is.....I just don't care. The one and done athlete will ruin college basketball.

"One and done" has been going on for 15+ years, if not longer. College basketball hasn't been ruined so far.
If the slimy underbelly of AAU, handlers, runners, money, shoe companies, "innocent" coaches hasn't toppled it so far, an incredibly talented kid who can play one season at Good Ol' State U before making millions isn't going to damage the game.

I guess I should have said "already damaged the game". How many great players have jumped early or never played at all in college ball? I think it should follow along the lines of college-nfl but I'm not out there busting my butt physically to get paid. I would likely feel different if an athlete. It's about education though right???

It's never really about education. That's the bullchit the NCAA sells and some in the public believe.
What would it have benefitted "the game" if someone like Carmelo Anthony had stayed four years? Or this Deandre whatever at Arizona who was the top NBA pick last week? Or Sexton? Nothing, to be honest.
If I've completed my college freshman or sophomore year as a computer coding engineer and get an offer from Google or Apple to make $850,000 or more a year, should I stay in college? I may be on an academic scholarship - just like an athlete being on scholly - and I have a chance to improve my life. I may not believe two or three more years of college will do anything to help me other than taking away two or three financially productive years from my career.
IMO there's no difference. I don't get wrapped up in this "sancity of the college life" stuff, either. When it comes to athletics, it's a business. All the top players flocking to Tuscaloosa to play for Saban or Columbus or Austin aren't doing it for Good Ol' State U. They're doing it as a business move strictly to try to win a championship and get to the NFL, if they have that talent. Basketball's no different. Neither is baseball.

Did the NBA change their rules on draft eligibility? I remember a couple like LeBron James went straight from high school. Why even do the one year unless they have to now?
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

It's required now.
ETA...I think technically you CAN go straight to the NBA out of high school, but you'd have to sit out a year because the collective bargaining agreement states that players must be at least one year removed from high school and at least 19 years old.

They are wasting scholarships when there is probably a kid out there somewhere that actually wants an education. At least make them do three like football or none at all.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

There's no requirement for three years for football, is there? I've never heard that.

They won the tournament as a 3 or 4 seed when I was pretty young and I won a pile of money in my dad's office bracket. He left after that
