I guess they dont care that folks are cutting the cord, cause they still show the same or more commercials like they always have. I have tried to watch a grand total of 2 hours of regular tv this week and I think most of that was time I spent flipping channels to avoid commercials. So like many others, I am going to cut the cord, get an antenna for local, and just use internet for shows. I'm too busy working to pay to watch commercials. I'm getting ripped off. So I am done with it.

Skinny the damn commercials are getting longer and longer. Some channels run 5-6 commercials on each break. I'm going to time one of those shows, I believe the commercials are longer than the show.

I have timed them.

An hour long show is pretty close to 40 minutes and a half hour show is approximately 20 minutes. So you get roughly 2/3 show and 1/3 commercial.

Yup so 1 third or more of your money that you pay for cable is going to commercials when what you paid for is programming. By definition, that is being ripped off.

Yep still got dish but the smart t.v. is taking over the wife..i can c news on my phone so it's only matter of time cuz I don't watch it anyway

They are getting paid on both ends. Advertisers pay for their minute slot we're paying too.

Anything except ball games that I plan on watching, I DVR for the express purpose of fast fowarding through the commercials unless it is on a network without commercials. I noticed that Yellowstone was promoted as being sponsored by Ram trucks with limited commercials. It started out with fewer than normal, but by the end of the show it had just as many as any other show.

I cut mine 2 years ago. Best move i made.
It was tough at first but after a month i got use to not having it and became later i became so happy that i got rid of it. I wished i had gotten rid of it years ago. I watch a few things on the free channels like gunsmoke and westerns but hardly even watch any tv anymore.

I was in hospital last week with cable. I saw the old shows that i use to love. They were terrible and i had no desire to watch them anymore. And yes its 1/3 commercials and some are over 1/3.

I never have understood the logic of paying a company every month, renting their boxes, and dealing with schitty customer service to be shown commercials 33% of the time the service is being used.

It's pretty simple, just dvr what you want to watch, skip over,the commercials and then you can watch a 1 hour show in 40 minutes

pretty sure the History channel is less than 2/3 show and 1/3 commercial. Closer to 50/50

I pay for programming not commercials or any work that involves flipping channels. The way I see it, the cable company owes me about 1/3rd of my time if I am forced to spend that time watching or flipping around commercials. I think that is reasonable.

We cut the cord. Went to Sling TV. Wife don't like it cause it don't have the local channels, here in North Ala., that's 48, 19, 31. So she called Charter and they sent us a box. But they've got a deal going so it's only $20 more than what we been paying for their Internet.
Sling TV wasn't all it cracked up to be. Add on for the sports package, add on if you want to be able to watch on more than certain no of devices. I just need TV for Bama football in the fall. We got Netflix and Amazon that the kids like. Wife and I been enjoying Andy Griffith on Amazon this week.

I did not agree to pay for commercials. I agreed to pay for programming.

We cut cable. Saved 130 a month. Got 2 metro pcs smart phones with unlimitted internet, unlimitted everything for a total of 90 a month. Both phones were free. No contract. Drop anytime. We have a lot of hot spot data too for laptops. We never watch tv but watch some of the free channels. It worked out great.
