it's just not your day. Before the MSU vs. Oregon St. baseball game, MSU pitcher is warming up in foul territory down left field line. Batter taking batting practice hits a line shot that hits the pitcher in his throwing arm elbow. That's when you know it's just not your day.

Alabama went through nearly the same thing back in the 90's. They were the best team in the country that year and was getting ready to play LSU in the championship game. Roberto Vaz, their best hitter, pitcher, and outfielder who was going to be the pitcher that day, stepped on a ball during batting practice and broke his foot. That's when you know it's just not your day.

Vaz broke his foot before the regional final game...a week before the CWS began.

Still a huge absence, though.

That's right now you mention it I remember. I think it was USC they were playing. They had lost Manny Torres also. Seems there were a couple of football players on the team also. The Phillip boys from west Alabama. Joe Carusso at 2nd. They were fun to watch.
