Since I was on such a big speck bite over the weekend, I thought I would try the same tactics again today. This beast took a little longer to subdue. Guessing it was around 36 inches(tape goes to 30 inches) and no idea on weight, but it was heavy. The cheap Abu Cardinal made it, but no idea how much life it will have left. 3/8 oz jighead and 3 inch fluke. 10-15 minute battle and then 5 minutes to revive and it was off the breed again.

What does a 36 inch redfish weigh? My guess was between 25 - 30lbs, but I never like to list a weight(don't care to get questioned on a weight). He wore me out on light tackle and I thought my finger was crushed when getting under his Gill plate, so he was big and strong.

I caught two that were as long as a 80 quart cooler at fort morgan a few years ago. But they were skinny and only weighed 20lbs
We will burn that bridge when we get there

Not as much as you think. I weighed a super fat 39" on a digital scale last year and it was 28.7 lbs. That one is probably 22-25lbs. Unless it is just an absolute porker, to break 30lbs on a red, it will be over 40".

He wore me out on light tackle and I thought my finger was crushed when getting under his Gill plate, so he was big and strong. I had a 34" that weighed 23 lbs, and a 37" that weighed 26 lbs. We've caught a couple 28-29" that were 16 lbs.
