We have an old 6 blade row hipper that needed lots of repairs and I didn't want to mess with it. I had been looking at the single disc row hippers and decided that's what I wanted. At least until I saw the price tag. Well that brain got to spinning and just happened to get an agrisupply catalog in the mail. I found the single blade hippers with 16" blades and a 21" shank. Looked on the web and found the bolt on clamps and ordered them. I have an old disc plow that just happened to have some long sections of 2" sq tubing on it. I cut a piece 6' long and made a 3pt hook up frame for it. Now that brain got to spinning again. I had found a reciever hitch adaptor on the rd a while back. I need a trailer moving hitch anyway so we welded the adaptor to the frame. Took an old reciever hitch and welded the tubing to the hitch and pinned it in. Well the clamps won't be in till maybe next week so I decided to make some and put them on the tubing. Worked perfectly. Now all we need to do is clean it up and give it a good coat of paint and we are ready to draw some rows. [Linked Image][Linked Image][Linked Image]

Looks good. Don't forget where you left your hammer. I've never used a row hipper. I guess you use it in freshly plowed ground?

You think one bolt will provide enough tension to hold those round pipes at the angle you have them set when you're pulling that thing?

Yes sir, we use it in tilled ground. I put it through a pretty good test run this morning and it held together. Those brackets are only temporary until the right clamps come in next week. I was just bored this morning and decided to make them.

Better than forgetting the hammer is on top of the ladder then moving the ladder.

Looks good. Just curious. What do you do with the “hipped” rows after you make them?

Pass the roller I made and flatten the tops and plant them. Y'all may call them beds. We draw rows in our gardens down here. It's so flat it helps keep the plants out the water.
