The wind kicked up today and the beast already looks like it's claimed at least Spieth, who shot a 78 and played the par-3s at +6.

Leaders right now are just below par. Should be an interesting weekend.

sounds like a typical US Open so far. Winning score will be probably a single digit red number.

It's going to be a very high scoring tournament. I would be surprised if the winner broke -10.

No one will hit -10 this weekend. Probably will be around -4 or -5 at the most.

I haven't had a chance to tune in.......what's the reason for the high scores? Just a difficult course, tough weather, both?

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Difficult course. USGA got back to its "Let's test them" roots." Wind has been pretty strong today.

Couple of big-time pairings groups today....Mickelson, Speith, and McIlroy have already finished, and Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, and Tiger are together on the course now.

The average golfer would need at least a dozen balls and extra pencils to play Shinnecock. If its windy and dry the winner will be around par.

The greens aren't small like at Oakmont, but the landing areas within the greens are pinpoint. Miss one and it can be big trouble. Add wind and dry conditions and it's even worse.

Tough track. Tiger shot a +8 yesterday, which would put him above the cut line.

Anyone see Justin Thomas hit the 422 yard drive on 18 yesterday? Talk about just flat out uncorking one.

I didn't see Thomas's shot but saw the other guy who hit a 411-yard drive and then hole out his second shot on the fly. Pretty remarkable.

Day 2 conditions - 10 mph N/NW wind and rain, which the announcers said the players weren't expecting.

Woods and Johnson are paired and Woods doesn't even have rain gear on or have an umbrella. A bunch of guys look like they didn't even pack anything. Must be a weird squall that blew in.

Maybe the rain will soften the course just a little. I don't mind the tough US Open layouts, but yesterday was kinda painful to watch, and today is not starting any better. Henley, who was a co-leader for some of the day yesterday, just attempted a shot out of the rough that the ball didn't move. Almost like he whiffed on it.

Shinnecock looks more like a British Open course, condition-wise.

I've seen that of all the Open courses this one can play most like a links course across the pond. Defintely looks that way today.

Henley looked miserable on that hole. When he finally chopped out it went into the rough and then across the fairway into the rough again.

Woods is +5 on the first hole, an easy 400-yard par-4 and looks completely baffled and disappointed.

Saw on Twitter they must have named it Shinnecock because the thick rough is bad for your shins, bad for your knees and bad for your cock.

LOL

Hahaha.... Sounds about right

Read where some players are bitching about the course being "hard" . If everyone played the same course, then STFU.
