Looks big. That snake might be 8 years old or more. I have read frequently where they say each shed grows a button so they shed once a year sometimes twice a year so according to that its 8 to 17 years old lol. I dont know how long they can live. Im too lazy to check

central ala,
If that guy is 6', that snake is 6' or longer. He's holding him over his head and the snake is probably 6" -8" off the ground. For where I am a 5 ' is really big. Never seen a 6'+ timber. Copperhead about 2 1/2' is big. Cottonmouths about 3's big.

Like we talked about a few weeks ago, a person that makes longbows would love that hide. They could do the whole bow with that one snake. 64" is the biggest I've ever seen and happen to kill but I believe that one is bigger. More buttons anyways by far.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

How many years since you saw that “62 or 64.5 in/6 ft 4 in” rattler you ran over in the road and didn’t have a phone handy to snap a pic? I think crocker stole your snake. crazy

He’s holding that snake straight out toward the camera. It’s not as big as some of you are thinking. I’ve measured a ton of snakes and I’m saying 48-54”. A 60” timber is absolutely ENORMOUS and extremely rare.

When they’re young they’ll shed as many as 4-5 times through the warm season, depending on food availability. Rattles has nothing to do with age. They shed at different rates and they break off often.

I killed one 58” long at the house 7-8 Year’s ago. It was huge but only had 5 rattles and a button I bet it wat 8-10” around at the biggest spot.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I don't care how close to the camera he is , he has his arm up at about a 45 degree angle which puts if over his head and still not touching the ground. Even if he was real short 5' would make it about 65"

I have come to realize that you could lay a rattle snake flat out straight with a visible tape measure beside it reading whatever length. If its over 5 or 6ft some would still call it bull crap. Im 6ft 2inches and the rattler i saw was longer than me. He had 18-22 rattlers on him. There was one recorded in louisianna that was 74.5 inches long recorded but some on here still wouldnt believe it. That was me just googling one quick time. In that same google...wikepedia states they commonly average 36 to 58 inches long. So common sense should tell you that it clearly states.....common average length up to 58 inches. Thats common. Nothing special about 58 inches. So one growing another foot or more wouldnt be a miracle. I rest my case. Carry on lol

And i did have pictures of the snake. This happened about 4 or 5 years ago. I took the pictures on a flip phone i used for work that i had in my pocket. I didnt know this snake was that dang rare or i would have transferred the pics over to my email or something. I knew he was huge but not towards record huge. It still wouldnt prove how long it was. He was laying in the middle of a county rd with nothing to relate the length to. So on camera he could have looked 4 of 5ft long. Yall still wouldnt have believed me so it dont really matter. beers
