Well if there is one thing I have learned about hog hunting with dogs, it’s that you can have a good pack of dogs today and have to completely rebuild tomorrow.

This morning the best dog I have ever had the pleasure to put a collar on and give a ride to the woods possibly will be put in to early retirement if she makes it. I have a 5 year old that has been doing great for the last 3 years that as of the last month has all but quit. Two of the three young dogs I have been working looks like they are not going to make the cut as Hog Dogs. This looks like it’s gonna be a long summer

On the bright side I have a couple pups I’m excited about that will be ready to go to work after deer season but In the meantime I need to find me some young dogs to put in the woods this summer

A man can get OUT of the hog dog business a heckuva lot quicker and easier than he got IN!!!

I bet the female that is acting quirky/quit on you is having hormone issues.
Hopefully a vet can do some bloodwork and get her straightened back out!

Ben, Jake, I work hard at two things with that boy. To raise him to be a man . And to spoil him with the outdoors as much as possible. I get a lot of good feedback from adults he is around, I hope these early lessons stick thru his lifetime.

ElkHunter, I was at the Howard Hill shoot at Tannehill today. Dylan had been gone looking around by himself for a while, had come back and was sitting near me as I talked to a man and wife from Ga. Another fella walks up and asks the couple if Dylan is their son? They said no and told him I was his grandfather. The man said to me you have raised a fine young man there, very well mannered. I thanked him for saying so. Seems Dylan had bought something from the man at his booth earlier.

Good job BhamFred! I have a 6 year old son and i try to raise him rite as well. He is a heck of a bass fisherman. I started him when he was 2 years old. I think at age 3 he moved up to a full size mans spinning rod and reel. He has been itching to get one of my baitcasters. Im gonna let him start learning it now. He caught an 8lb large mouth so far as his biggest bass. Im proud. He is well mannered and has a soul of an older gentleman. We have a lot of outdoor fun hunting and fishin. I want to teach him car work later.
