Troy is like your typical mid-major or small D1 when playing against the big boys. Just like in football where several of these smaller schools can hang with the most of the big boys for the first half of the game then late in the 3rd quarter, that roster depth starts coming into play. Same thing in baseball. Based on what I saw this weekend, Troy just did not have the pitching depth. Once they got past their first 2 starters, they were pretty much done. You've got to have 4-5 solid starters to compete in the regional format due to the potential number of games you may end up playing. The format heavily favors the bigger LSU's, Ole Misses, Floridas, etc.
Troy can play with anyone and be competitive, if it's a one game winner take all deal with both staffs having fresh arms, but in a regional format, that lack of both starting and bullpen depth just always comes back to bite the smaller schools 95% of the time. The bigger schools, with more prestige, better facilities, more money etc, attract those better pitchers that aren't the #1 or #2 guy but are still very solid pitchers, because they get more exposure at the bigger schools which is what those guys are looking for. Typically, their 4, 5, and 6 guys would be the 1 or 2 guy at a smaller school like Troy. Look at the resumes of Florida's or LSU's number 4, 5 and 6 guys and then compare them to Troy's. Troy did very well and should be congratulated considering the above.
AU played very well but will most likely end up facing Florida in the super-regional. If AU's bats stay hot, they've got a really good chance to beat FL. FL was super hot starting the season but was 4-6 in its last 10 games coming into the regional. AU has a 50/50 if not better chance to knock FL off this year. This is spot on and why so many times the big schools lose the mid week games to the Troys, UABs and Samfords of the world.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Casey Mize goes #1 to Detroit... Guaranteed 8 mil for your first job out of college. Not bad, but he'll probably be eating a lot of bologna sandwiches between paychecks to make ends meet.

Oklahoma's starting quarterback this coming season, Kyler Murray, went #9 in the draft...meaning he has about a $4-5 million dollar decision to make.

I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

SC is already in the Super Regionals, too.
UF is fighting for a spot right now. Very early, but not looking good for them right now. Down 2-0, with FAU having runners on 1st and 2nd and only one out.

The gaters were down by 2 and looking like shucks when I walked away from the TV a few minutes ago. If the Fighting Kiffins pull it out AU will host the super regional.

It be AU vs. the gaters in G'ville. They pulled it out, but really didn't look that good today. Quite a few fielding problems the gaters need to get worked out.

Well the SEC ain't looking so hot anymore. Arkansas, Auburn, State, and Vandy all seem to be pretty hot. Maybe they can make a run through Omaha 6 of the 16 teams left in the country are from the SEC. then As 3F said the 6 SEC teams are playing each other in the supers. Which guarantees 3 of the final 8 in Omaha will be from the SEC. not bad IMO
