Getting back into bowhunting...Not real familiar with expandables, have heard all the bad stories. Shot Thunderheads in the past...
Any insight on the newer stuff?

I've been shooting Thunderhead 100s since I started bowhunting in '92. They haven't given me a reason to try anything else.

Slick tricks > Thunderheads > Muzzy

All for about the same price. Go with the tricks.

I shot thunderheads for years on aluminum arrows. I never could get them to fly right when I started shooting the newer graphite arrows. Now I shoot slick tricks and they fly great. I can tell you from experience with both that the ST are a lot tougher than the thunderheads. I’ve never bent a ferrule on the SL and to date haven’t bent a blade either. I did break a blade. They’re easy to sharpen, fly great and leave fantastic blood trails.

That's what is do. Maybe grab some 125gr and test them as well. I've shot multiple elk with them and never had any part of the BH damaged, not even a bent blade.

I hadn’t shot a deer with em yet (shot a smaller critter or two) but I shoot Snuffers. I like you can run a file over em and have em sharp in just a jiffy.

Spitfires always shoot just like my fieldpoints and leave a huge hole and blood trail. they also shoot good in a 360fps crossbow and never open inflight. for fixed broadheads i like slicktricks

Ask MBrock if Slick Tricks are sharp? grin

I shot slick tricks for years and switched to rage hypodermic last year. Like them both. I prefer the two blade 125 grain hypodermics if you have a fast bow

180 gr Silverflames from German Kenetics. Best, by 1000%, broadhead on the market today. Come scary sharp and stay that way forever. Easy to touch up and damn near indestructable.
